The Mockingjay 2 panel just wrapped not too long ago at Comic-Con. The big 3 were all there – Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth. But, really, the story is Katniss. Always Katniss. Always JLaw. According to the tweets I’ve been reading, she really delivered for the fans. Full Story

Tonight is David Letterman’s last show as a late night host. All week he’s had special guests—including Eddie Vedder who performed a rendition of “Better Man” with Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra that made me teary-eyed—and last night Bill Murray sat in as Letterman’s last interview guest. Full Story

Like Saturday Night Live itself, the 40th anniversary celebration show was a mixed bag. Here’s everything that was good. Andy Samberg’s digital short Because they are ALWAYS good, but this one, sung with Adam Sandler featuring an assist from Chris Parnell, highlighted the history of character breaks on the show. Full Story

I have officially hit the halfway point of the Chicago International Film Festival. It is October 16th, and between the festival and squeezing in some commercial releases to meet writing commitments, I’ve seen sixteen movies so far this month. I have fifteen left to go, including four double-headers. Full Story

The highlight of TIFF tonight is probably the premiere for St Vincent at 9pm at the Princess Of Wales theatre. The festival is honouring Bill Murray. They’re telling fans to dress up as him. And of course, he’ll put on a show, like he always does. All that on top of his performance in the film, said to be one of the best, if not perhaps the best, of his career. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

The best article I read yesterday was about Bill Murray. Murray’s film St Vincent will be screening at TIFF. The festival wants to also take the opportunity at the gala to honour Murray’s career. Only no one was able to find him. Because, as you know, Bill Murray isn’t available like that. It’s legendary now how Murray lives his life – disconnected from Hollywood, absent from the carpet, but more likely to show up at some random person’s wedding and give a speech.  Read Full Intro

For someone who claims to exist purely for the fans, Lady Gaga wasn’t so much about the fans at the Oscars. The Academy sets up several sections of bleachers along the red carpet where fans can scream at their favourite stars. The call time for the fans is around 10:30am. But celebrities don’t start arriving until close to 3pm. Full Story

Portrait session for The Monuments Men yesterday. George Clooney put a political message on under a leather jacket. But he’s been overshadowed. By Cate Blanchett? No. Not even Cate Blanchett. Bill Murray. Please enjoy his pink pants. It’s award season and George Clooney’s in a film – Gravity – that is in contention for Best Picture. Full Story

George Clooney is in Germany directing his next film The Monuments Men with Matt Damon, Bill Murray, and John Goodman. Goodman has starred in the last two Oscar winning pictures, right? Will he go 3 for 3 for George? Now this looks like a good time. And especially hilarious, to me at least, is that Bill Murray’s on a smartphone. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

Moonrise Kingdom opened Cannes last night. Photos of the cast on the carpet at the Palais including Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray, and Edward Norton, who looked sooooooo great and so fresh and not truculent at all, are attached. And how was it?

I love Wes Anderson movies. If you love Wes Anderson movies, you’ll probably love Moonrise Kingdom too. I LOVED it. Yes, he is so full of random it borders on pretentious and can, for some, feel smug.  Read Full Intro

(Lainey: I’m still catching up after flying overnight to Cannes. Trying to rush out a few new articles but let’s start first with Sarah’s Cannes preview since they’re all starting to arrive. I screen Moonrise Kingdom tonight. Attached - the cast at the photo call today.) The Cannes Film Festival is always glamorous and Hollywood is always well represented, but this year seems particularly heavy on the star power, headed, of course, by the Brange. Full Story

Less than two hours. Remarks are kept short. No montages. And no James Franco. The First Annual Comedy Awards hosted by Comedy Central took place in New York this weekend. That would have been a good ticket, non? Tracy Morgan presented to Eddie Murphy. Colbert was a bitter bitch, you know, on stage with Jon Stewart. Full Story

Bill Murray’s random amazingness was a regular part of this blog in 2010. Click here for his feature in the Best of the Year article. When he walked into an elevator. And kissed some dude. And then walked back out, ominously declaring “no one will ever believe you”. Full Story
