Keira Knightley, one of the most interesting stars of the year. She charmed up a storm in Begin Again, and will soon chase her second Oscar nomination for the over-hyped The Imitation Game, but makes her biggest star turn as an American twentysomething in crisis in Laggies. Knightley's Megan feels like a prisoner in her own life. Full Story

Over-medicated, "bitchy," and sans-makeup: it's Jennifer Aniston like you've never seen her before. In Cake, Aniston plays Claire, a wealthy L.A. woman struggling with the loss of her son. She soon joins a chronic pain support group, and becomes obsessed with the suicide of a cheery woman named Nina (Anna Kendrick), and the life she left behind. Full Story

I actually emailed Lainey about Playing It Cool (formerly known as A Many Splintered Thing) a few months ago when the official synopsis came out, because this is one of the most amazing synopses I’ve seen in recent memory. Here it is: “The story of a young man disillusioned by love who meets a breathtaking young woman at a charity dinner by pretending to be a philanthropist. Full Story

That was me before a headline whore. Brange and children are in Malta working on By The Sea. On the weekend they spent time on a boat. As you can see, the Jolie wore swim shorts. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her like this before. So, there’s the headline explanation. But the other title could have been: Brad Pitt or Sean Penn? Because at first quick glance, I thought it might have been Sean Penn. Full Story

Remember Ryan Reynolds, the movie star? The star of The Green Lantern, R.I.P.D., and The Change Up? What about Buried and Adventureland? Torn between his cash-in commercial gambits and his independent spirits, Reynolds' rocky road to the top of the A-list continues in The Voices, the ultimate B-movie. Full Story

My Obsession! Two in a row! For the second straight night, Sam and Aaron Taylor-Johnson were at Chiltern in London. What a great way to end a long ass week. This time they were more dressed up. It was a pre-Fashion Week party. Also there – Jamie Dornan aka Christian Grey. So sort of like a Fifty Shades reunion. Full Story

In the eyes of his "Cumberbitches" online, Benedict Cumberbatch is a hero. In The Imitation Game, he cracks the code of his hype and fandom, and finally gets to play one. How? It's elementary. As WWII codebreaker Alan Turing, Cumberbatch is a mathematical genius who also happens to be a pompous, socially awkward outcast. Full Story

Xavier Dolan's duelling enfant terrible and wunderkind personas have become his trademark, often overshadowing his immense talent. Remember, this 25-year-old won the Cannes Jury Prize for his fifth film, Mommy, in May, but barely eight months earlier, he bit back at an unflattering review in The Hollywood Reporter, tweeting, "kiss my narcissistic ass. Full Story

In the last five years, Anna Kendrick "type[d] with purpose" to an Oscar nomination for Up in the Air, carried the a cappella Bellas to a national championship and shook off her role in the Twilight franchise to become a bona-fide star in her own right. But with The Last Five Years, Kendrick shines in yet another musical as Cathy Hiatt, the ultimate "Shiksa Goddess" - even though the movie doesn't work. Full Story

YES. It’s been a while, after all. Last night, My Obsession, Sam and Aaron Taylor-Johnson were out in London at Chiltern. I’m perving on these shots of them with their arms around each other and her mouth on the back of his hand. Also her sweatshirt. Which I might be partial to because I think it’s Stella McCartney and I have a version of this in dress form. Full Story

Robert Pattison looked good last night. I think the hair has a lot to do with it. This hair reminds me of the early days of Twilight. Here he is at the premiere of Maps To The Stars which was the gala at Roy Thomson Hall. I was across the street at the Mommy screening at Princess of Wales. For what it’s worth, the hysteria over Benedict Cumberbatch was a lot louder a couple of hours before. Full Story

Maps to the Stars is arguably the most polarizing film of the year, but it's one you should see, if you can stomach it. David Cronenberg’s provocative portrayal of Hollywood chronicles the lives of two dysfunctional families and their encounters with sex, violence and incest. But, according to Cronenberg, it's not satirical, and is about more than celebrity culture. Full Story
