I have officially hit the halfway point of the Chicago International Film Festival. It is October 16th, and between the festival and squeezing in some commercial releases to meet writing commitments, I’ve seen sixteen movies so far this month. I have fifteen left to go, including four double-headers. Full Story

That f-cker is not going to make it past the foyer!  Hugs & Rubs Right? Brad Pitt in DETAILS. Full Story

Brad Pitt in DETAILS: The Man Crush

Shia LaBeouf isn’t alone. He’s made it very clear that Brad Pitt is the “top dog”, as he described it on Kimmel the other day, the John Wayne of Fury, the one you sit down and shut up around…as you gaze adoringly. This is a Man Crush. Shia has one. DETAILS apparently has one too. Full Story

Emma Stone as Sally Bowles

Entertainment Weekly has the first official photo of Emma Stone as Sally Bowles in advance of her Broadway debut in Cabaret on November 11, taking over from Michelle Williams. This is… GOOD. Very good. Sally fronts a don’t-give-a-f-ck attitude even though her life gets pretty wretched – by her own decisions, her own attitude, compelled by her own confusion. Full Story

Warner Brothers is in the middle of their annual shareholder presentation right now, and CEO Kevin Tsujihara just dropped some major info bombs regarding the future of their DC movies slate, confirming a Wonder Woman solo movie in 2017, along with the proper Justice League team-up flick that Superhero Face Punch is setting up (which will also be directed by Zack Snyder), and an Aquaman Full Story

Today, with Keanu Reeves & Dr Strange?

Keanu Reeves was in New York for the premiere of John Wick on Monday night, the same day he was on Reddit for an AMA. I wasn’t paying attention the last time he did an AMA but there’s a quirk. A Keanu Reeves quirk: he answers a lot of questions with “today”. Example: how do you like your eggs? Today, I like my eggs over-easy. Full Story

Brad kisses Shia

Shia LaBeouf’s hero, Brad Pitt John Wayne, greeted him with a kiss to the hand last night at the New York premiere of Fury. As far as we know, the event happened without incident. No drunken outbursts, no fights, no plagiarism. Would Shia dare when Brad’s around? It’s an interesting reaction – the response to authority, or perceived authority. Full Story

Benedict Cumberbatch’s campaign of inclusion

It’s mid-October, which means that award season is in full swing, and as such the actors starring in award bait are beginning to lay the foundation of their Oscar campaigns. We’re still over a month away from Benedict Cumberbatch’s The Imitation Game opening in the US, but he’s got a profile in Out in support of the film. Full Story

Got yelled at by several Brangelunatics the last few days for not posting about Angelina Jolie getting honourary damed by the Queen on Friday. Because I had laser eye surgery and then it was Thanksgiving in Canada. So that's a lesson for you all: nothing is more important than Brange - not your vision, not family, not holiday. Full Story

Shia LaBeouf. I mean, it’s Shia LaBeouf. You can describe him in all kinds of ways – most of them negative: troubled child star, plagiarist, stunt queen, belligerent, a very bad drunk, etc, etc, etc. He’s also a good actor. And an entertainer. That’s the quality that got him discovered, and I’ve always said this about Shia LaBeouf – he’s watchable, when he’s right it’s the right kind of charisma; he has It. Full Story

RDJ has been talking up a potential extension of his contract to play Iron Man, and everyone jumped on the Iron Man 4 grenade, because he made some wiseass comments about Iron Man 4. I didn’t buy that he was in talks for another Iron Man installment, but that he could be extending his deal to make room for a fourth Avengers movie. Full Story

Even George Clooney has one. You remember his aunt Starla? The Rogue Relative? Aunt Starla told the Daily Mail that Brad Pitt would probably be his best man and, as I wrote at the time, Aunt Starla didn’t know sh-t. Click here for a refresher. Full Story

The Chicago International Film Festival kicked off last night, and over the next couple weeks I’ll be reviewing some festival season stragglers, beginning with the opening night film, Miss Julie, which blew chunks. But first we need to talk about Colin Farrell, who was on hand along with writer/director Liv Ullmann to introduce the film. Full Story

The Imitation Game opened the London Film Festival the other night and Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley showed up looking all kinds of glamorous. Cumberbatch is at his best in Sherlock drag, but the suit porn is good, too, and this is some prime suit porn. If Cumberbatch is your flavor, then you’ll enjoy these photos as they’re like the double-chocolate malt equivalent of The Batch. Full Story
