Mad Men Series finale recap (Season 7 Episode 14 recap) If that’s how the story ends, then Dick Whitman is dead forever. Don takes himself to California to find and feel all the things that aren’t Don – the things that are from another part of his life – but Don keeps resurfacing. Full Story

Mad Men Season 7 Episode 13 recap SPOILER ALERT I wasn’t expecting that. Of all the lives on this show that we think are of extreme consequence, Betty’s was not the one that I thought we were going to have to account for – to make a value judgment on, in terms of what degree of impact one of these lives has had on us. Full Story

Mad Men Season 7 Episode 12 recap You know, last week Matthew Weiner gave an interview about the endless analysis (hi Matthew!) of the show, and dealing with people who don’t like where he’s taken the last seven episodes, and basically saying people who want to complain should get their own show and see what decisions they make. Full Story

Mad Men Season 7 Episode 11 recap Yes, we’ve done it before. We’ve seen this go down – the passion and ticking clock and the corralling of clients. I got just as excited this time as I did back then. I wanted to see the excitement and adrenaline start to flow like it did years ago when they snuck out of Sterling Cooper under cover of night. Full Story

Mad Men Season 7 Episode 10 recap Well, that’s where Lou Avery has been all this time. I am of two constant minds where these last episodes are concerned. On the one hand, I don’t want to see so many tertiary characters when we have so little time left – I keep crossing my fingers that we’ll get Don and Betty in a room together again, but really, we spend this much time characterizing Joan’s babysitter? Then, on the other hand, I think this is why I’ve always loved Mad Men – it’s a world of people constantly coming in and out who affect your life marginally or massively given the day. Full Story

Mad Men Season 7 Episode 9 recap You know that thing parents say? “I love you, I just don’t like you right now”? That’s how I feel about this episode of Mad Men. I get everything that went on, in a logical manner – or at least, I get why they thought they needed to do this episode. Full Story

Mad Men Season 7 Episode 8 recap You know, every Mad Men has a tenor. There’s always a tension as you wonder what’s going to happen next, and a general unease. But this was the first episode in a long time where it felt straight-up sinister. There’s no longer any hiding or pretending about what we’re up against. Full Story

Last night in Hollywood at the Mad Men Black & Red Ball… It’s probably the last major carpet for the show before it concludes in about 8 weeks. So Jon Hamm went all out in a white jacket tux. And Christina Hendricks went all out in a dramatic gown… After all, it’s a ball. Full Story

The final episodes of Mad Men will begin airing on April 5 on AMC. Are you ready? They’re calling it The End Of An Era and it really does feel like it. Don Draper made Walter White possible. Mad Men brought down hemlines. Mad Men’s influence on television, its contribution to the “golden age of television” cannot be overstated. Full Story

There will be many, many Mad Men pieces in the next few months as the show finally closes. Seven episodes left to finish what Don Draper started years ago when he tried to figure out why that waiter wouldn’t switch to Lucky Strike cigarettes. And I’ll write some, and everyone else will, as we try to figure out why the show resonates so much with so many of us. Full Story

Mad Men Season 7 Episode 7 recap People are surprising, and that’s a good thing. It seems not to be true, for weeks and years, and then all of a sudden, people do things that are different. They surprise you. They decide to be different. Every single character we care about decided to be different. Full Story

Mad Men Season 7 Episode 6 recap Oh my God, oh my God. I’ve always loved this show, and loved writing about it. But sometimes it’s still, you know, a commitment. This was not that. This was …not just a pleasure, probably a gift.  Because there is nothing I love more than an episode of this show where the work – the actual stuff they do – is the stand-in for everything else. Full Story

Mad Men Season 7 Episode 5 recap. You had almost forgotten, hadn’t you? Don’t lie. Yes you had. Mad Men is most of the time a regular-smart straight ahead drama, but they really have a fondness for the weirdly macabre physical injury. Everything from Roger barfing up oysters to the John Deere incident with the severed foot to poor Kenny’s eye. Full Story

Mad Men Season 7 Episode 4 recap There are very, very few things about this show that I find incongruous. That is, most of the time, even when there’s a pointed remark about time, and how different things are – or a plot about a computer taking over a whole room – they do their best to make us feel like the problems then are the problems now, and nothing changes, and offices are ridiculous, and there was a time when you could fat-shame Don Draper. Full Story
