Hi Duana, I love your column and I'm glad I finally have a chance to ask you for help! I'm due in October and the gender will be a surprise. I've fallen in love with the name Persephone for a girl. But I definitely had never heard this name before (a big hole in my liberal arts education?) until I met someone at an event who named her daughter this. Full Article

No, I’m serious. Think about it. This isn’t just for my benefit, glory, or shaming. These updates actually tell us about the people who resulted from ideas we were just talking about! It’s kind of like we all made the person together, except inasmuch as that’s not true at all. Full Article

Hi Duana, So I have a theory about pet puppies and babies. I believe if a couple raises a puppy or puppies together before they have kids, the baby(s) personality will closely mirror the puppy's personality. With that in mind, the reason I'm writing is that we have a little emergency, there is a two week old little boy who needs a name! His older brother's name is Riley and the parents would like a name that goes well with Riley. Full Article

Hi Duana! Ever since I was little I've loved to think about names, but now that I'm due to give birth to my first child, a boy, this May....I'm stuck. It's a lot of pressure! My husband and I have been going back and forth with names. The last name is quite long (four syllables) and Italian, although it's spelled the Brazilian way, and ends in 'elli'. Full Article

Hi Duana, I had to google "twee" after you referred to my son's name as twee! It was your guess that Ryan and Blake would name their new lil one Greyson... which we had just done, so I know you may not be a fan of the name, but we love it and are now naming baby boy #2! (Of course that's because I had a billion girl names and no boy names). Full Article

Duana, Straight to the point, here is our short list of boy names Samson Dietrich Rex Do we have a winner here? We tend to gravitate towards strong hopefully non-pretentious names. I could go into detail why each of these mean something to us but that's not how names work. You hear them, make a judgement, and then if you get to know the person might find out why they were named. Full Article
