My husband and I are having our first child this winter and I am stressing about names. My husband's last name is very Italian, filled with lots of M's and r's and syllables. Many of my longtime favorite names for girls (Zara, Cecelia) are either filled with those same letters or sound too long and cumbersome when combined with the last name. Full Article

Hi Duana, We are expecting Baby #3 in early 2015!  Our son's name is Timothy, and our daughter's name is Anna.  The boy's name is decided - it was set the last go-round (Henry Xavier) - but we are having some trouble with a girl's name.  My husband wants June, but if we do use it, we'll likely use that as a middle name. Full Article

Hi Duana, My husband and I don't know the sex of the baby yet, we are still too early along. But I'm the kind of planner that as soon as we know- I want to be armed and ready to assign our baby with the perfect name. If we have a boy, we will likely name in succession, a very traditional male name. Full Article

Ooooh Duana, I wouldn’t consider myself in a name conflict with my husband, but I’m worried the short list has already been created and we’re missing out on other great names because we’ve basically stopped looking. Background, I’m 6 months pregnant with our first, last and only. Full Article

Hi Duana, My husband and I are expecting our second child - another boy - this spring. Our front runner for baby # 2 is Nolan - likely to be the eventual winner but I don't like officially naming a baby until it's here. I'm a little perplexed by middle names. Neither my middle name, nor my sister's have any significance and my parents were never given middle names by their parents, but ended up just picking one themselves. Full Article

I have a friend who could really use your advice.  She has two girls, Rory and Brooklyn and baby number 3 is on the way.  The thought of going through childbirth again is really stressing her out, and not having a few names ready isn’t helping the situation! She and her husband do not know what they are having. Full Article

Hi Duana, So I'm not pregnant. It's not even in my foreseeable future. But I need still your opinion. I had a one-night stand recently with a guy named Sebastian...which just happens to be one of my favorite boys names. So...what are the rules of naming children the same name as someone you once slept with or dated? Do I need to avoid all men with awesome names so I don't ruin my chances of being able to give that name to a future child? Many thanks! ___ So there are rules, and there are unbreakable rules. Full Article

Dear Duana, I’ve read your column enough times to know that you aren’t very impressed with matching names or alliterative names and well, we’ve done both.  I have two boys, Maddox and Maxwell and I am pregnant with my third baby.  The boys last name starts with “M” and to top it all off my husband and I both have “M” names… I don’t know how we got to this point but we are here now and I feel like we have to give this baby another “M” name or he/she will feel left out. Full Article

Hi Duana, I have been reading your column religiously in hopes that you would suggest a boy name that would solve all my boy-naming problems. This hasn’t happened yet, so I am just going to ask outright. My husband and I are having our first baby at the end of February (gender unknown) and we are having such a hard time finding a boy name that we love. Full Article

Hi Duana, My husband and I are having our first baby - a boy - in the next couple of weeks and we're having a hard time coming up with a trilingual name for him. Our parameters are few but somewhat limiting. My husband is Moroccan and we would both like our son's name to reflect his heritage, in addition to be easy to pronounce in English. Full Article

Hi there Duana, My due date early March, and my husband and I are excited to be welcoming our first baby; a boy.  However, even with 3 months to go I'm feeling stymied in the name department.  There is nothing we LOVE. Nothing getting us fired up. When it comes to taste my husband is very pedestrian; he can't stomach anything too 'weird'. Full Article

Hi Duana, My husband and I are currently expecting our second at the end of April and we just found out that its a boy. I'm not going to lie, you have totally sold me on the name Damian - I love it so much, as does my husband. It's classic, uncommon but not unknown, and goes well as a sibling with our daughter's name. Full Article
