Hi Hayley! I was just wondering if you could recommend any exercises that slim down the waist specifically (i.e. without also slimming the hips/chest)? Basically my dream body is the hourglass figure. I'm in my early 20s and my stomach is (already) very much my problem area. While I know that it's not really genetically possible to reconfigure body shape, nor to spot-reduce fat, I keep holding out the probably illogical hope that there is some exercise or even food that encourages weight loss specifically on the waist/abdomen region. Full Article

Help! I don't know who to ask and am too embarrassed to Google this! I recently started exercising daily (elliptical, strength, and cycling) and I have overhauled my diet. I eat lots of veggies and get my protein from white fish or sometimes white meat chicken. No more Ranch dressing on my salads, no more red wine (mostly), no pasta, and little sugar. Full Article

Hi Hayley, After not having been on a bicycle in two decades, I bought myself cheap mountain bike last fall. I only rode it a few times as I was in so…much...pain. I can handle my legs feeling like jello but my ass hurt so bad, it felt like I had bruised the bones. When the weather gets nice I want to start again, what exercises do you suggest to help make me stronger for biking? More importantly will my butt get used to the seat or do I just have a crappy bike? Should I get a padded seat? I will be riding it on a walking /cycling trail that is fairly flat. Full Article

Hi Hayley! I just (literally just now) signed up for my first ever sprint triathlon in May and I already have jitters. I have always wanted to do one, and thanks to joining a swim team I am in better shape than I have been in years.  I am not too concerned with speed, my goal is to finish strong and feel like I tried my best. Full Article

February, it has to be one of my favourite months. The dark days of January are finally behind us, our resolutions are long forgotten and we are living life again, inspired and excited for spring. Hi Hayley! I'm wondering what your stance is on cheat meals. I found an eating plan that I like and it advises eating healthy, non-processed food Monday through Friday, then having two cheat meals on the weekends. I find it easier to cut out processed food when I know I can indulge at the end of the week. Full Article

Hi Hayley, Recently I had the opportunity to use a "bod pod," which assessed my body fat %/age. A quick summary: I'm 30, 5'10" and weigh 156 (that goes as high as 160 on any given day depending on what I've eaten or drank, but not usually any lower than 156). I work out 4-5 times a week, usually with cardio (straight jogging 3-5 miles or doing intervals on the treadmill) and doing intermittent lifting/hiit stuff (on my own, not with a trainer). Full Article

Dear Hayley Last September I ran my second race ever and first half marathon (a huge deal for me because I began running last February and I never thought I´d be able to do the 21 km distance). Unfortunately, four weeks after the race I had a serious bike accident and broke a vertebrae. Full Article

Hi Hayley! I've been pretty active and working on my health for probably the last six years — since my first year of university. I've gotten to a weight I'm happy with, and I'm not so much worried about weight loss than my shape and tone, but sometimes I feel like if I do too much cardio with running or spinning, my muscle percentage suffers. Full Article
