Articles and photos related to celebrity strategy, politics, and media manipulation. The term "StratEgery" is not a LaineyGossip original. Look up Will Ferrell doing George Bush to understand.
While PEOPLE Magazine is banking on Big G on the cover to sell this week’s issue, US Weekly’s going with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner “in crisis”. Lower level tabloids have been reporting on this since April. And for the last 3 weeks, Ben and Jen have stepped out on weekends to the farmer’s market – because no paps ever hang out there – to try to send a message. Full Story
Emma Stone is featured in the new issue of WSJ Magazine to promote Irrational Man. It’s Manic Pixie Dream Girl…the interview. At one point she pops a sugar cube in her mouth, just because it’s a cute thing that she does. And she tells a story about how she f-cked up a beauty roundtable once by talking about decomposing bodies. Full Story

But not the one they were hoping for… Kristen Stewart and Twilight author Stephenie Meyer presented together last night at the Women In Film Crystal + Lucy Awards in LA. The two collaborated on a short film competition encouraging female filmmakers to submit Twilight-related work to be shown on Facebook later this year after being reviewed by a panel of celebrity judges including Stewart and Meyer, Kate Winslet, Octavia Spencer, and Julie Bowen. Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez went out for lunch yesterday. And there were a lot of paps around to document the event. Conveniently this happened just after Madonna released the poster for her new video – which has finally dropped on Tidal (so, naturally, I’m waiting for it to be made available on YouTube and besides, I heard the last 30 seconds of it is f-cked up…so this doesn’t look great on Jay Z either) – featuring Beyonce, Katy Perry, Minaj, Miley, and others… kinda like Bad Blood. So for the last few days, Aaron Paul has been teasing a big announcement on Twitter and Instagram. I’ve got big news, and here’s a photo of a dessert my wife sent me in celebration of my new top secret project. Yesterday, he gets on Periscope and makes a rambling announcement about a new Breaking Bad spin-off featuring Jesse Pinkman in his post-Walter White life, living as a fugitive in Alaska. Full Story

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were at the Brentwood Farmer’s Market yesterday buying fresh fruit and vegetables to feed their healthy, thriving family in their happy home. With a big smile on her face, Jen smelled the flowers and sampled the berries. Obviously they don’t know that the paps hang out there every weekend. Full Story

Angelina Jolie is in Johannesburg today with William Hague participating on a panel on conflict related to gender violence at the African Union Summit. So it wasn’t true. Katy Perry is not releasing a song called 1984 as a slap-back to Taylor Swift. Her managers confirmed to Billboard that the story was bullsh-t. There is a 1984 that has been registered but it’s not hers. Katy also retweeted Billboard’s clarification on the issue which means there’s nothing to see here…
But what were those few hours like when Taylor Swift thought that there might have been something to see there? Well, around the same time that the rumour about 1984 was circulating, Taylor was also retweeting online articles. This story in ESQUIRE featuring Taylor and Beyonce with the title…
How Beyoncé and Taylor Swift Conquered the World with Pop Music
…that namechecks Katy Perry, who’s a major player in pop too, like she’s an afterthought. You think she’d want to be part of that conversation?
It’s the only flattering headline about Beyonce that’s come out this week. The Beyhive felt f-cked over after her Good Morning America shenanigans a few days ago – click here for a refresher – as people continue to not give a sh-t about her 22 Vegan Days, and, at the same time, seriously hate on Tidal. Bey is supposedly releasing an “athleisure’ clothing line with Topshop in the fall. Seems a lot more on-brand than kale. But can she remain as removed from the consumer while promoting that than she has been with the vegan business? Would you buy it anyway because it’s fashion?
Yours in gossip,
Maria just emailed me wondering if Bradley Cooper and Leonardo DiCaprio share the same lawyer. The two are good friends, as you know. And they both date models, as you know. And now they’re both suing French magazine Oops! Leo is suing Oops! for making up a story about him knocking up Rihanna. Full Story
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were out on the weekend, all happy happy family. Two weeks in a row now that we've seen them put on a show of togetherness after several weeks of divorce speculation. The message of course is that the magazines lied. And that they're always wrong. And that they're as strong as they ever were. Full Story
