Check out Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard on the set of Macbeth in Farnham, United Kingdom. They're blurry but I thought you might want some idea of what it's going to look like.
I've no doubt Fassbender, who is immensely talented, can play his character. He's into the heavy sh-t. It's always the heavy sh-t. So we're good there, totally. But as I mentioned when this film was announced, it's Marion's nuance as Lady Macbeth that's driving my interest. This is arguably Shakespeare's most complicated, formidable, most fascinating female character, to say nothing of the debate over whether or not she reflected his feminism, whether or not he believed women to be just as capable as men, but held back by social convention and therefore forced to realise their ambition through men and manipulation. Elizabethan feminism?
If they can get that right in the story, this is the film I'd want to see.
