No matter what else is going on with Saturday Night Live, the fake-news Weekend Update segment is usually reliable. But last year, post-Seth Meyers (one of the best Update anchors ever) was rough. Update was co-anchored by Cecily Strong and SNL head writer Colin Jost, and while Strong is a great performer, Jost is…not. Full Story

Check out Rosamund Pike in Rome today at a photo call to promote Gone Girl. Haven't seen Ben Affleck yet. He might not be there. And if not, I agree with this strategy. We already know Ben Affleck. Rosamund Pike? Not a household name. But that could change soon. Gone Girl is one of the most highly anticipated movies of the season. Full Story

Remember Ryan Reynolds, the movie star? The star of The Green Lantern, R.I.P.D., and The Change Up? What about Buried and Adventureland? Torn between his cash-in commercial gambits and his independent spirits, Reynolds' rocky road to the top of the A-list continues in The Voices, the ultimate B-movie. Full Story

My Obsession! Two in a row! For the second straight night, Sam and Aaron Taylor-Johnson were at Chiltern in London. What a great way to end a long ass week. This time they were more dressed up. It was a pre-Fashion Week party. Also there – Jamie Dornan aka Christian Grey. So sort of like a Fifty Shades reunion. Full Story

In the eyes of his "Cumberbitches" online, Benedict Cumberbatch is a hero. In The Imitation Game, he cracks the code of his hype and fandom, and finally gets to play one. How? It's elementary. As WWII codebreaker Alan Turing, Cumberbatch is a mathematical genius who also happens to be a pompous, socially awkward outcast. Full Story

One of them. There was a report from a French outlet a few weeks ago, remember? About George Clooney’s 3 part wedding? First a civil ceremony in England on September 12 – that’s today. Then Venice for a reception the weekend of September 26. Then in October, on the 25th, another party just outside London. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

Beyonce and JayZ play two shows in Paris tonight and tomorrow to end the On The Run tour. These performances will be filmed for HBO and will air next weekend, for those subscribers who’ve not had the opportunity to see the show live.

And then what?

Then, if you believe the rumours, then it’s done. At least that’s the Page Six and US Weekly version of how it’s supposed to roll out. Have you read Taylor Swift’s cover feature in Rolling Stone yet? She talks about the great lengths she goes to to protect her music from leaks. The weather was stupid again in Toronto last night. It was pouring, it was windy. Kind of a bitch to be dealing with when you have to walk a red carpet. But first…the pre-party. I interviewed Keira Knightly at the Moet + Chandon cocktail for Laggies at Michael’s on Simcoe before she headed over to Roy Thomson Hall for the premiere. Full Story
