Intro for July 31, 2014

Dear Gossips,

The best article I read yesterday was about Bill Murray. Murray’s film St Vincent will be screening at TIFF. The festival wants to also take the opportunity at the gala to honour Murray’s career. Only no one was able to find him. Because, as you know, Bill Murray isn’t available like that. It’s legendary now how Murray lives his life – disconnected from Hollywood, absent from the carpet, but more likely to show up at some random person’s wedding and give a speech.

Apparently a search committee, that included Harvey Weinstein, had to be formed to track Murray down. So he didn’t jump when Harvey said “call me back”? LOVE that.

St Vincent was originally intended for Jack Nicholson and written in collaboration with him. Full Story

Interstellar and Dylan Thomas

Christopher Nolan and Matthew McConaughey were at Comic-Con this year to present the new trailer for Interstellar. It was a first time for both. Nolan’s one of those directors who doesn’t give anything away before a film’s release. Scripts are said to be hand delivered and actors supposedly have to read them while the person waits outside so that there are never any copies that can potentially be leaked. Full Story

Oscar Isaac will not be a hero

Check out my #1, Oscar Isaac, at an event in New York earlier this week. Oscar’s been working on Star Wars VII. Before that he was shooting A Most Violent Year, scheduled for release in November, with some talk of possible award season inclusion. Yesterday it was announced that Oscar will star in the upcoming HBO miniseries Show Me A Hero based on the true story of Nick Wasicsko who was, in the late 80s, then the youngest mayor in America. Full Story
