Aaron Paul 2.0

I miss Breaking Bad. A lot. So much so that when there’s a marathon or rerun on TV, I can’t watch it because I’m not ready yet. I want more, but, like FNL, I accept that they gave us the best and longest run they could without compromising the characters or the story. And Aaron Paul is going to be a movie star!  This new Details story on Aaron is quite flattering (sometimes Details can sneak in a bit of snark, like one time they interviewed David Beckham and didn’t tell him he had food in his teeth). Full Story

Breaking Bad Season 5 Episode 16 recap series finale I was stuck at the airport yesterday, and as I stressed about missing Breaking Bad, most of my thoughts were on Walt’s take on chemistry – the study of change. Growth, decay, transformation. Walt to Heisenberg wasn’t quite a transformation, as I had always assumed. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

Award shows, with the exception of maybe the meaningless People’s Choice Awards, are like porn for us here at LaineyGossip. Duana and I were so jacked before our Emmys live-blog yesterday. It’s been 6 months since the Oscars! It’s celebrating TV! It’s red carpet! It’s Neil Patrick Harris!

We were ready.

We were ready to give up Breaking Bad (for a couple of hours). We were ready to rage. And to argue. We wanted to fight and squee at the same time. I expected to rage about the same old winning. And we did, Modern Family. We didn’t however expect that most of the other raging would be over Claire Danes’s hair and Jeff Daniels’s upset of Bryan Cranston. And that there would be so little squeeing. It’s like… television gave up on itself.  Read Full Intro

Breaking Bad Season 5 Episode 15 recap I feel like this is the week after a storyline binge – Hank is dead, Jesse is being held hostage, Walt is finally on the run. Now it’s time for consequences. The Vacuum Man who makes people disappear into a new life actually owns a vacuum cleaner shop – how convenient. Full Story

In Lainey’s Idris Elba post earlier today, she talked about how Stringer Bell, an iconic audience favourite, hasn’t and won’t form Idris Elba’s career. He is humble and grateful for the experience, but it’s not part of his DNA. Full Story

Breaking Bad Season 5 Episode 14 recap Last week’s episode ended with a desert shootout between the Aryans and Hank and Gomez. Jesse was cowering in a car, Walt was handcuffed and freaking out. It was the spot of Walt and Jesse’s first cook, and the place Walt chose to bury the remains of his empire – his money. Full Story

Breaking Bad Season 5 Episode 13 recap. The purity issue is still in play, as the show opens with Lydia, Todd and the uncles and debating the colour of Todd’s meth. Is it blue? Blue green? Aquamarine? Terrible Lydia is clearly having a prolonged nervous breakdown, so Todd brings her tea and lends a sociopathic ear. Full Story

Breaking Bad Season 5 Episode 12 recap This episode starts with no flash forward, no hint at what comes later in the show. Instead, a panicked Walt goes into his house to look for Jesse. Walt searches the house, which is doused in gasoline, and Jesse has fled without setting it on fire. Saul’s car has been left outside with the door open – there’s a CD case with white powder on it. Full Story

Breaking Bad Season 5 Episode 11 recap The last episode – Buried - was about brute violence: the desert hit and Hank and Walt fighting in the garage. It’s back to the base violence that Walt never really took to. When given the choice, Walt’s MO has always been grand and dramatic, poisoning and bombs. Full Story

Breaking Bad Season 3 Episode 10 recap Last week I said this episode would be called The Box, but it's actually called Buried. But who on Breaking Bad has ever been a hole in the desert? People aren't buried, they are liquefied into nothing. Secrets can be buried though, although none of them very deep. Full Story

Aaron Paul has been hyping the sh-t out of Breaking Bad (and did you see the first episode? Wouldn't you?!) and if you follow him on Twitter, you'll notice he does a lot of charity work, particularly in support of his wife's non-profit, Kind Campaign. This week he participated in a two hour Reddit AMA (isn't that forever by internet standards?) and I tried to follow along live but it was too confusing, so I just read through the question and answer bits (not the threads of comments, it's just too much). Full Story

Breaking Bad Season 5 Episode 9 recap. I spent my entire Sunday watching the first part of season five and realized that the meth business was always my least favourite part of the show. Drug dealing only has so many solutions and endings - murder, money, jail, more murder. This story isn't about meth; it’s about a man grappling with mortality, failure, power and his own propensity for sociopathic behaviour. Full Story

You know when you babysit a kid, and then their family moves away and 15 years later you run into him and he’s a full-on adult? That’s how I felt watching this clip of Aaron Paul. Clearly, marriage suits him very well. He looks happy and grown-up – he’s been busy with Need for Speed since the last episodes Breaking Bad wrapped and has a huge amount of press to do before the August 11 premiere date. Full Story

Two decent men. Two wonderful actors. I thought it’d be a nice way to end another day of bad news. Here’s Hugh Jackman in London at the premiere The Wolverine. He’s awesome and generous and great at his job, all aspects of it, as usual. And here’s Bryan Cranston getting his star on the Walk of Fame, supported by his Breaking Bad costars Aaron Paul, who looks happier for Cranston than he would for himself, Anna Gunn, R. Full Story
