Eddie Redmayne and Hannah Bagshawe arrived in New York today presumably ahead of Monday’s MET Gala. He’s been before. But never as the Best Actor. The MET Gala will be the first major red carpet he’s been on since winning the Oscar in February. And before that, you’ll recall, it was MONTHS of red carpets and screenings which, obviously, paid off. Full Story

Eddie Redmayne and Hannah Bagshawe were seen at LAX yesterday and then landing at Heathrow after the Oscars and the parties. There was a story after the Globes about how he had to explain to airport security what the trophy was in his carry-on. He likely didn’t have the same problem with his Oscar. Full Story

Right off the top, the thing you care about most: No, this won’t “Norbit” Eddie Redmayne’s Oscar chances because it has far bigger problems than his relatively small performance, but make no mistake: Eddie Redmayne is profoundly terrible in Jupiter Ascending. He gives the most baffling, distracting, ABSURD performance. Full Story

Boyhood won the BAFTA last night. But on Saturday, the Directors Guild picked Birdman. The DGAs are considered a very, very, VERY good predictor of Oscar Best Picture; only 7 times in history have the DGA and the Academy picked differently. Even still, Boyhood has its share of support. So with a week to go before the voting period closes, it’s a legitimate race. Full Story

Premiere of Jupiter Ascending last night. Reviews haven’t been great. BUT some noteworthy critics have given it some love. Like Hitfix’s Drew McWeeny who called it a “wicked slice of entertainment”. Alonso Duralde over at The Wrap Full Story

Dear Gossips,

Between the PGA Awards, the SAG Awards, Sundance, Paris Fashion Week, and blind riddle subjects filing for divorce, it was a busy weekend in entertainment. So it’ll be a busy blog today too, likely spreading out over two pages. Please refresh often and scroll down to click VIEW MORE if you’re joining us late.

But first…

You laughed. And then JLO’s The Boy Next Door exceeded box office expectations. “I like your mother’s cookies” WAS NOT A FLOP. That distinction belongs to Johnny Depp’s Mortdecai. Let’s repeat that:

Jennifer Lopez opened bigger in January than Johnny Depp.

As for the SAG Awards…

Inside a month to go until the Oscars and we now have two tight races: Birdman vs Boyhood and Keaton vs Redmayne for Best Actor.  Read Full Intro

Anne Hathaway has been out there doing press for the upcoming Song One but since everyone’s in award season fever, she’s kind of moving under the radar. By her standards. Usually Annie tops the headlines. Here she is in New York in a green coat – great colour on her. Annie talked to Hitfix Full Story

F-ck. Can we rage first about her bullsh-t taste in clothing? This dress is SO old. And SO ugly. And SO … It’s the WORST. Because it’s so obvious. So obvious that she’s all about invoking the Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe Old Hollywood vibe. You know why that worked for them? Because it was 50 years ago. Full Story

Eddie Redmayne over Benedict Cumberbatch… Have you seen The Theory Of Everything? I’ve had a boner for it ever since TIFF. So, yes, he deserved to win. And he certainly deserves to move into second place tied or ahead of Benedict Cumberbatch. And for the Academy members who were watching last night, that’s a shakeup too. Full Story

Check out Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones at the premiere of The Theory Of Everything in London last night, an early celebration for their double SAG nominations this morning. Triple, actually, because the film was also nominated for Best Ensemble. Have you seen it? SEE IT. I love this movie. It was my favourite at TIFF. Full Story

The race for Best Actor will be between Michael Keaton, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Eddie Redmayne this year. All three were at the Hollywood Film Awards. All three received awards at the Hollywood Film Awards. Jesus, is this show business or is this grade school? As we’ve seen, Keaton had the early lead in this category since Venice. Full Story
