Scarlett is sexy…and jealous
ESQUIRE named Scarlett Johansson the Sexiest Woman Alive in 2006. And again this year. She is the magazine’s first repeat SWA. And no argument here. You see my Five List? She’s on my Five List. It’s undeniable.
It was recently confirmed that Scarjo is engaged to Romain Dauriac. She was previously married to Ryan Reynolds who is now married to Blake Lively. I just want you to keep that in mind when you’re processing this comment she made about jealousy in the ESQUIRE interview:
“I didn’t think I was a jealous person until I started dating my current, my one-and-only. I think maybe in the past I didn’t have the same kind of investment. Not that I liked my partner less, I just wasn’t capable of it or caring that much.”
Lack of investment. That’s the closest we’ll come, probably, to knowing exactly why she and Reynolds didn’t work. Which makes sense. She was only 24 when they married. And remember, 24 as a celebrity is not 24 as a civilian. But there’s some game-playing happening here too, right? A little Girl Sh-t? Definitely a little Girl Sh-t. Like this:
You only have him because I lost interest.
So what’s it like being the first 2 time Sexiest Woman Alive?
“I’m the only woman to win twice right?...You know, I gotta hustle. I’m a twenty eight year old woman in the movie business, right? Pretty soon the roles you’re offered all become mothers. Then they just sort of stop. I have to hedge against that with work-theater, producing; this thing with Esquire.”
She has indeed been hedging. Scarlett’s career has been interesting and varied the last two years – from Broadway to blockbusters to indies to comedies, it’s been a well-managed, well-executed strategy, designed to take her out of her 20s and well into her 30s and beyond. Will she still make the cover in 10 years though?
