The Bridge, Season 1 Episode 13 recap I’m not sure I’ve seen a more frustrating first season than that of The Bridge. It started out so promising, with a serial killer mystery and a gruesome crime set in a fascinating and complicated environment, starring a cast of intriguing characters. Full Story

The Bridge Season 1, Episode 12 recap. It’s the penultimate episode of The Bridge. Usually this is the episode where all the sh*t goes down, but we’ve already been through the big serial killer reveal, David Tate has already has his showdown, and Gus died in the previous episode. All that’s left is to wrap up whatever is going on with Rich Widow, resolve Creepy Steven’s plotline, and deal with the David Tate fallout. Full Story

The Bridge Season 1 Episode 11 recap Third to last episode. Really starting to get a “let’s just get this over with” vibe from The Bridge. Season one hasn’t been a total wash, but they have squandered the best element of the show, the rich environments of El Paso and Juarez, in favor of a pretty rote procedural story centered on a boring serial killer. Full Story

Last week my family tried to watch The Bridge with me while I did my recap, and they were lost, so the simplest explanation I could come up with was, “There was a whole thing about the border and missing women and corruption and cartels, but that all turned out to be a ruse for your basic revenge plot/excuse to become a serial killer. Full Story

The Bridge Season 1 Episode 9 recap I’m watching this at the family ranch, which is in Texas, so there’s a level of authenticity to this week’s recap. Flashback to the accident that killed David Tate’s family and turned him into a serial killer. It’s a chicken-and-egg scenario, though. Full Story

The Bridge Season 1 Episode 8 recap. We’re halfway through season one of The Bridge and so far, it’s been a consistently good show that just misses being truly great. What we’re missing is someone to really care about. We don’t know enough about the original victims, Judge Gates and Cristina Fuentes, to feel much for them, and everyone else is an unlikeable asshole. Full Story

The Bridge Season 1 Episode 7 recap Last week my neighborhood experienced a blackout, which meant I missed The Bridge, which meant no recap. But after catching up, the takeaways from episode six are that truculent teen Gina, who was introduced only to witness Serial Killer Doug serial killing her father, was herself serial-killed, the man who killed Sonya’s sister (played by Coover Bennett) was permanently brain damaged courtesy Hank, and Marco’s father co-founded a cartel with Fausto’s father, which Fausto in now running. Full Story

The Bridge Season 1 Episode 5 recap Jumping right in with Jefe and an underling discussing how a serial killer is different from any other kind of killer. Jefe determines he isn’t a serial killer because he doesn’t enjoy killing. Then he murders some guy he tortured. He’s trying to track down the Raging Lunatic Pimp because he killed that lady in El Paso. Full Story

The Bridge Season 1, Episode 4 recap So last episode Marco and Rich Widow started having an affair out of nowhere and we learned a little about Creepy Steven, enough to make me wonder if he isn’t Serial Killer Doug. Matthew Lillard and Cub Reporter witnessed a murder in Juarez, and Matthew Lillard is a cokehead and Cub Reporter is a lesbian. Full Story

Last week I got sucked into FX’s new show, The Bridge, and a bunch of you emailed to tell me that the Danish original is so much better than the US remake. That may well be, but I’m holding off on watching the original. The Bridge ought to stand on its own and I’d rather judge it on those merits than be comparing it to the original. Full Story

I don’t know what to expect from FX’s new crime drama, The Bridge. Reviews have been positive but there are a number of distressing references to the rage-inducing The Killing, but then some have also said it soothes the hollow ache caused by Justified’s absence. All I know about it is that it stars Diane Kruger and Demian Bichir and is about a serial killer operating on the Texas/Mexico border. Full Story
