Cleopatra in Cannes...with Jessica Chastain

It was 50 years ago that Cleopatra was released. It was the movie that brought together Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. A restored version of the film was screened in Cannes tonight, presented by Jessica Chastain. Taylor’s son Chris Wilding and Burton’s daughter Kate were expected to attend. Lindsay Lohan is currently in rehab, but she wasn’t invited anyway.
Jessica arrived at the Palais in white, presumably chosen to better show off the millions of dollars around her neck. It’s Bulgari, and I’m guessing it’s a piece originally worn by Dame Elizabeth herself or from the collection that was inspired by the Dame’s Cleopatra. With all the robberies that have happened in Cannes this festival, I hope they’re guarding her with the Secret Service.
The dress is Versace. I don’t love the fit but I’m not sure that’s the point. The jewellery is the point, right? Great choice on the marcel waves in the hair though.
This is Jessica’s third Cannes in a row. She was there with Lawless (and Madagascar I think) in 2012 and Tree Of Life in 2011.
