The Huntsman: Winter’s War opened over the weekend to a resounding, “No thanks,” from audiences with an estimated $20 million opening. For comparison, Snow White and the Huntsman opened in 2012 with $56 million. Given its reported budget of $115 million (haha, yeah RIGHT) and an aggressive ad campaign, Universal is looking at a loss on this one. Full Story

… Is the best way of describing Now You See Me 2, judging by the new trailer. If you remember the first one—and why would you?—Morgan Freeman ended up in jail because Mark Ruffalo was the best magician in the world, or something like that. So the sequel is Morgan Freeman trying to get revenge on Mark Ruffalo, which is like your grandpa being mean to your puppy. Full Story

Many of you have written to say that you thought this year’s Oscars was low on star power and major fashion moments. I feel you. Some of you mentioned that you wished Emma Stone could have been there, because she’s always good for a style conversation. I hear you. But Emma’s been keeping a low profile and I can’t complain about that either. Full Story

I said it last night on Twitter, but there’s very little that’s crueler than being up for an award with four other people if one of the people—the one who is CERTAIN not to win anything—shares three syllables of a name with you. “And the Oscar goes to…Mark Ru-“ (Time stops. Full Story

Book signing anxiety is real! (Unless you are J.K. Rowling or something.) I have a signing at Barnes & Nobel at The Grove tomorrow at 730! I'm so nervous no one will come. I might pay people like a Ben Carson rally — christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) February 22, 2016 Full Story

Cheryl Boone Isaacs has already spoken out about her disappointment in the lack of diversity. Full Story

Carol led the way with 5 Golden Globe nominations this morning. The Big Short, The Revenant, and Steve Jobs are in with 4. The Martian has 3. And Spotlight has 3. But no actors from Spotlight were singled out. The SAGs only nominated Rachel McAdams from that cast yesterday. Is that a concern for the film that was considered the frontrunner earlier this week? Or maybe, if they position it right, that will actually help the film? That no one person is more important than the story. Full Story

Have you seen Spotlight yet? The film won Best Feature and Best Screenplay last night at the Gotham Independent Film Awards, strengthening its position as a frontrunner for Best Picture at the Oscars. There is no doubt – Spotlight will be nominated in the category. Right now it’s about what other films it’ll face in the race. Full Story
