Chris Pratt was papped today while getting his car serviced looking pretty cute in sweatpants and his backpack. At one point he gave photographers a thumbs-up. And why not? It’s all thumbs-up for Chris Pratt. Chris Hemsworth clearly needed it more than he does so, no, Pratt is not the Sexiest Man Alive. Full Story

So while Jennifer Aniston’s trying to avoid a Norbit situation with Horrible Bosses 2 and Cake, Julianne Moore is out there selling The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 while holding the top spot for a Best Actress nomination for her work in Still Alice. Mockingjay is a sure thing. So Julianne will be able to ride on the fact that she’s part of a blockbuster and at the same time showing the voters that she’s one of the best, one of most under-appreciated, in one of her finest performances, maybe her finest performance. Full Story

Jennifer Aniston was at a special screening of Cake hosted by American Cinematheque yesterday in Hollywood. The Q&A was moderated by her Horrible Bosses 2 co-star Jason Bateman. Is it corny here to make a joke about having your cake and eating it too? I understand the strategy here. But last week I wrote about Aniston’s hopes for Cake and campaigning for it at the same time as promoting Horrible Bosses 2. Full Story

Pitch Perfect 2 – joy and nodes

Duana Posted by Duana

The last time a group of comely young singers came together for a musical movie sequel about a choir; it was Sister Act 2 - a movie which, no joke, has informed my friendships, my wedding, my career. And which, it goes without saying, far surpassed the kick-ass-in-its-own-right original. There is nothing wrong with a surprise sequel to a choir movie. Full Story

Reese Witherspoon wore white to the premiere of Wild in Hollywood last night. Both Reese and Laura Dern are considered strong candidates for Oscar nominations – Reese in the Best Actress category and Laura for Supporting. So if we’re looking ahead to the Golden Globes, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston, and Laura Dern could all be in the ballroom at the same time. Full Story

The Age of Adaline, Blake Lively’s new movie, has its first trailer and it looks like a hybrid of Winter’s Tale and Benjamin Button, with special effects straight from The CW. It’s about Adaline, who defeats time in a car accident and stops aging as a prize, then has to watch her family grow old as she remains forever Blake Lively. Full Story

Cinderella doesn’t look terrible

The fairytale trend in movies has been more miss than hit, by a pretty wide margin. Maleficent was okay, but if it weren’t for Dame Angelina, it would not have been even half so tolerable, but there hasn’t been a really great—or even just whole-heartedly good—fairytale movie yet. Full Story

When I started to write this article I wrote that I had last written about The DUFF in the summer. Turns out I’m wrong – it was only October 8th. It seems like much longer ago. Maybe because I’ve been trying to fight my way through the book since then. Full Story

Bone structure on the cover of Variety

Angelina Jolie, Jack O’Connell, and Miyavi cover the new issue of Variety in support of Unbroken. You know how this worked, right? Variety would for sure have been happy with just Jolie. You can’t go wrong with just Jolie. Did Jolie tell them she wanted to be centred by her two stars? It’s a compelling photo to begin with in that blue-ish light. Full Story

Sophie Hunter accompanied Benedict Cumberbatch last night at the NY premiere of The Imitation Game. Just yesterday on Good Morning America he was not very forthcoming with questions about his engagement. And then, come night, there she is. Their very first official public appearance after the proposal… And right in the heat of a Best Actor Oscar race. Full Story

I updated the Rachel McAdams article from earlier with some new information – click here to read it. Not that that has anything to do with Jake Gyllenhaal. But it SHOULD. And it COULD. Because, well, go read the post. Anyway, here’s Jake Gyllenhaal in New York today at a press preview for Constellations. Full Story

Last night was the Hollywood premiere of Mockingjay Part 1. I’ve not read any stories about Chris Martin being there, have you? Let me know. Because a couple of weeks ago the Daily Mail was saying that he was going to show up and be with Jennifer Lawrence at the after-party. Full Story

I read a book earlier this year called The Confidence Code: The Science And Art Of Self-Assurance – What Women Should Know by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman. If you haven’t already, you should definitely pick it up. Not because I want you to agree, or disagree, but because it promotes productive discussion on how female confidence is built and broken, and what the possible outcomes could be if we tweaked our perspective on the female experience ranging from school participation to sport activities to the workplace. Full Story
