Salma Hayek looks absolutely beautiful. She’s stunning in this dress, even if the neckline reminds me of nothing more than a tree trunk. Can I say that and still be complimentary? I really do mean to.

But the reason I say she’s an imitation of someone else is that Salma is usually the picture of lush excess. Too much big loopy romantic hair flowing over a super-tight dress that just can’t contain those luscious overflowing breasts.  

This look, on the other hand, is beautiful – but kind of spare. Golden tree trunk, slim and willowy navy velvet column – it all seems so restrained and elegant and not at all indicative of the word “siren”, which she’s conditioned us to expect over the years, you know?
