The Walking Dead season 5, episode 8 recap. Spoilers It’s the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead and the showdown between Rick & Co. and Dawn and the hospital people. If you’re not okay with spoilers, here’s a short, spoiler-free review of the episode: It gets off to a slow start but then it gets good and there’s some bone-crunching action and then a sad bit at the end. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 5, Episode 7 recap Tara named their group GREATM. That’s adorable. With only two episodes left before the winter hiatus, and what seems to be a mandate to not drag things out anymore, the penultimate episode before the break has a lot of ground to cover. To that end, we spend time with each faction of survivors: Rick & Co. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 5, Episode 6 recap.  We’ve seen Beth on her own and Abraham Ford and his crew off doing their thing, and this week it’s time to catch up with Carol and Daryl as they search for Beth. The episode opens with a flashback to Carol being kicked out of the group by Rick, and we get to see Carol striking out on her own, going full-LAMOE (last man on earth). Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 5 Recap SPOILERS We leave Beth, Carol, and the hospital of doom in Atlanta in order to check on Glenn, Maggie, Abraham Ford, and the others who left for Washington, DC. We start with an effective group-bonding scene in which we learn that Eugene is still holding to his “classified” information on the off chance that there might be like, official hearings or something someday. Full Story

The Walking Dead season 5, episode 4 recap. Correction from last week: Father Gabe locked his congregation OUT of the church, leaving them to get eaten, not in it. But the point still stands—Gabriel has been established as a craven coward without the necessary survival skills. How long will he survive? How much damage can/will he do to the group in the meantime? Also, will we ever see Rick & Co. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 5, Episode 3 recap It turns out that a lot of you have the same questions I do re: Judith’s diapers and formula. According to many moms, the diapers aren’t quite as big a deal as what on earth they are feeding that baby at this point. Let’s just assume that Judith is a magic baby that can never die. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 5, Episode 2 recap As much as seasons spent stuck in one location suck (ugh, the farm), at least when you have a stable living situation there’s an opportunity to sketch out how everyone is surviving. The thing about wandering around the woods is that it immediately makes me question the basic logic of survival. Full Story

We’re back with The Walking Dead, picking up where we left off at the end of season four—Rick and the group trapped in a train car in Terminus, at the dubious mercy of a bunch of cannibals. This was a strong episode, jumping immediately into action and never slowing down. It was directed by Greg Nicotero, the SFX/makeup maestro in charge of the zombie effects on the show, which is why this episode has an excess of bloody zombie kills. Full Story

October 12th is the premiere of The Walking Dead, season 5. Are you ready? I had to replace my DVR box over the summer and to be honest, when faced with programming the new one, I wavered on The Walking Dead. It’s half a hate-watch already, and I’m always one Rick crying jag away from being disgusted with it. Full Story

The Walking Dead season 5: “The greater good”

We’re six weeks away from the premiere of The Walking Dead season 5, so it’s time for Entertainment Weekly to run their now-annual preview issue. The collectible covers are pretty good, especially Michonne and Daryl’s. Maggie and Glenn are just kind of eh, and I’m not into Rick’s pooping face at all. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 16 recap It’s the season finale, so beware the SPOILERS. This episode started out very promising, and then just did nothing. It encapsulates the best and the worst of The Walking Dead—the best being the gore and the tension and the clash of wills that results whenever Rick meets another alpha male, the worst being the fact that NOTHING HAPPENS. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 15 recap. It’s the penultimate episode. Potential SPOILERS. Well obviously my new favorite person is Doctor Mullet who talks about zombie dinosaurs and videogames and looks like someone said “post-apocalyptic Kenny Powers” as a character description. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 14 recap This was a Very Special Episode of The Walking Dead, in which we learned about strength and morals in a post-apocalyptic world. Also we learned about child murder. We’re approaching the end of the season, which means that sh*t is getting real. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 13 recap I’ve been re-watching Game of Thrones season 3, getting ready for the new season, as well as True Detective, which is just flat-out one of the best things I’ve ever seen on TV. As I’ve been watching these other shows, I’ve been thinking about The Walking Dead, which, along with Thrones, is one of the most successful shows on TV. Full Story
