It’s been too long since I posted new photos of Charlie Hunnam and Guy Ritchie’s not doing it for us anymore so I had to go into the bank and spend some extra money for these. Charlie is in Ireland with Sienna Miller shooting The Lost City Of Z… You know where my mind went, immediately. Full Story

Everest will open the Venice Film Festival tonight and begin a possible run to Oscar. Early reviews are solid but no one’s out of their mind either. Jake has a supporting role in Everest even though so much of the hype around the film suggests that he’s a big part of it. Full Story

How’s this for a pick me up? The new cover of Variety featuring… Cary Fukunaga and Idris Elba. And the good news is that we’re about to see a lot more of them. Cary is the director of Beasts Of No Nation. Idris is one of the stars. They’re taking the film on the festival circuit before it premieres on Netflix in October and then makes a run at Oscar. Full Story

Eddie Redmayne looks PHENOMENAL in The Danish Girl

The Theory of Everything was so calculated and mercenary in its intentions it might as well have been titled GIVE US OSCARS NOW PLEASE. It was unsubtle, and while yes, Eddie Redmayne was physically convincing as Stephen Hawking as ALS wrecked his body, there was no nuance anywhere in that movie, not even in Redmayne’s performance. Full Story

Yesterday the trailer for Will Smith’s football/head injury movie, creatively titled Concussion, dropped its first trailer, marking its entry into award season. Smith stars as Dr. Bennet Omalu, the man who discovered Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, or CTE, which is the brain disease that sets in after repetitive concussions and head injuries. Full Story

I didn’t know there would be new photos of Mark Ruffalo when I namechecked Mark Ruffalo just now in the previous post about Timothy Olyphant but look, here he is arriving in Venice today looking scruffy and rumpled and…delicious. Mark is there because Spotlight is screening out of competition at the Venice Film Festival. Full Story

The last time I posted photos of Jennifer Aniston on the set of Mother’s Day, mentioning that Timothy Olyphant is playing her ex-husband in the movie, I got yelled at. Some of you were pissed that I didn’t include photos of him. OK but there were no photos of him that day. There are now. Full Story

After #BackToHogwarts, Idris Elba is currently the biggest trending topic on Twitter at post time. It’s because Anthony Horowitz who wrote the new Bond book, Trigger Mortis, has offered his opinion to the Daily Mail on whether or not Idris Elba would be a good James Bond: “Idris Elba is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better. Full Story

Emma Stone’s been shooting La La Land with Ryan Gosling. And there have been all kinds of rumours that she and Ryan are going to happen. If they didn’t happen the two previous times, I’m thinking it’s unlikely to happen now. Also, she’s still with Andrew Garfield, even if they don’t get papped once a week. Full Story

Brad Pitt was in England yesterday at the MotoGP British Grand Prix. He narrated the documentary Hitting The Apex about motorcycle racing that comes out this week. While I think Brad is totally underrated as an actor (he lets everyone else around him be their best, which is an often overlooked talent), I’m not convinced he’s effective as a narrator. Full Story

We Are Your Friends, aka “the Zac Efron DJ movie”, is basically a remake of Saturday Night Fever with EDM substituting for disco and the San Fernando Valley for pre-hipster Brooklyn, and a vast, sucking void where its box office should have been. Full Story

STAR Magazine apparently reported in their issue this week that Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender might not be together anymore because he parties too much. I only learned of this from Gossip Cop because they’ve published a counter story calling STAR out on the claim. According to Gossip Cop, who spoke to sources close to Alicia, STAR’s article is “inaccurate”. Full Story

I’m going to go ahead and put a SPOILER warning on this, even though I don’t think anything released by a movie studio as part of marketing counts as a spoiler. But I get tired of spoiler babies crying in my inbox, so SPOILERS, if you’re trying to avoid any and everything relating to New New Star Wars. Full Story

We were hoping that Brange would be on the festival circuit with By The Sea. Then both Venice and TIFF announced their lineups and … no Brange. Turns out the Jolie was saving it for AFI Fest. AFI Fest announced today that By The Sea, written and directed by Angelina Jolie, starring Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, and Melanie Laurent, will be the opening night film. Full Story
