StratEgery Articles
Articles and photos related to celebrity strategy, politics, and media manipulation. The term "StratEgery" is not a LaineyGossip original. Look up Will Ferrell doing George Bush to understand.
Jeremy Renner is not fired
Last week a rumor surfaced about Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye being out of The Avengers 2, and that Renner himself could be done with the franchise, as Marvel brass weren’t happy with some comments he made about how Hawkeye turned out. While Marvel is totally willing to recast (see also: Terrence Howard, Edward Norton), sh*t talking is not how you get kicked to the curb. Full Story
Tom Cruise & JJ Abrams

Tom Cruise was at the Star Trek Into Darkness premiere last night. He did not walk the carpet but showed up for the after-party. As you know, it’s not his style to attend the opening of just anything. The official reason is that he was there to support his friends. But this was a strategic move too. Full Story
DO YOU KNOW I’M BLONDE AGAIN?
Is that what Reese Witherspoon and Britney Spears have in common? Brown is when the bad sh-t happens. That just made me laugh. You can imagine the look on Reese Witherspoon’s face if you were to tell her that she and Britney share something. Here’s Reese arriving in New York yesterday with her husband Jim Toth. Full Story
Big Brother RDJ

Deadline’s Nikki Finke posted an engrossingly thorough report yesterday about negotiations for The Avengers 2. It’s a great article about the business of movies, and celebrities. You can click here to read it. In short, Marvel is cheap. Full Story
Henry Cavill is a (hot) nerd
We’ve all noted that Henry Cavill, despite being ridiculously good looking and obviously being made into A Thing, is kind of boring. For many of us, the most interesting thing about him is that he dates Gina Carano (which is totally hot). He certainly seems nice, and is well spoken bordering on soft spoken, but he’s kind of the most vanilla potential heartthrob out there, right? Well not anymore. Full Story
Leo on marriage?
Leo looked good last night at The Great Gatsby premiere in New York. That’s a nice suit. I feel like maybe there’s too much red in his face in some of these shots and of course it’ll never be what it was when he was at his prettiest but then again, if Leo’s role model is... Full Story
How much will they have to pay RDJ?
FameFlynet, Splash, Taylor Hill/ Getty
Jacek was given strict orders not to talk to me, not to be around me, not to bother me at all during Robert Downey Jr’s interview with Jon Stewart last night on The Daily Show. RDJ is the best. Jon Stewart is the best. And together? With just a table separating them? Did your heart explode? At the movies, Iron Man is Marvel’s most lucrative superhero right now. Full Story
Brad Pitt, Zombie Savior
I’ve been highly critical of and already disappointed in World War Z for like, three years now. I’ve called it a nightmare, I’ve been harsh on Brad Pitt’s responsibilities and decision-making regarding this project, and I’m not optimistic for the film’s chances at the box office. Full Story
Reese Witherspoon’s baby brain
A smiling Reese Witherspoon faced photographers at LAX yesterday. TMZ says she’s heading back to Atlanta where she’d been working on a film and, of course, where she was arrested last week for DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM-ing a cop after her husband, Jim Toth, was pulled over for potentially harming innocent people while operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol -- nearly double the legal limit. Who walks and who doesn’t

Most of them walked the carpet and posed on Saturday night at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Some of them didn’t. Bradley Cooper didn’t. He was shot getting out of the car and heading into the venue but did not stop for photographs. He was photographed however at the Bloomberg Vanity Fair after-party talking to his boss, Harvey Weinstein, but barely. Full Story
Armie Hammer’s apprenticeship
I said once that no matter how bad The Lone Ranger looks, I wouldn’t bet against director Gore Verbinski pulling a rabbit out of his hat and coming up with something entertaining and crowd-pleasing, if not exactly good. Verbinski is the kind of director that exceeds in chaotic conditions and he has a knack for finding solid character beats amidst splashy action sequences. Full Story
Beyonce copyright
Remember when Beyonce complained about her unflattering photos after the Super Bowl? Click here for a refresher. That’s what happens when you complain. If you don’t complain, no one notices. As soon as you do complain, they notice all the time. Full Story
Saving Reese
“If you’re Reese Witherspoon, who do you sell out to save your own ass when the MiniVan Majority suddenly isn’t so impressed with it?” -- This was the final line of my post yesterday re: Reese Witherspoon’s arrest for being a bratty bitch to a police officer in Atlanta. Full Story
Ryan Reynolds vs Will Smith
Every year a big budget movie takes a sh-t at the box office. The other day I predicted that Will Smith’s After Earth would hold that title in 2013. Sarah from Cinesnark didn’t disagree, but after the trailer for R.I.P.D. was released last week, she thinks it might be R. Full Story
