From Transformers to Turtles
Candelabras not invited. Speaking of the absurdities of filmmaking... Check out Megan Fox yesterday in New York shooting Michael Bay's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with co-star Alan Ritchmon. As you can see, he's wearing the framework of a turtle shell on his back. And then they'll add the rest in post. Full Story
Behind The Candelabra in Cannes

Michael Douglas and Matt Damon were in Cannes today to promote Behind The Candelabra, premiering on HBO and HBO Canada on Sunday. Here’s where I get spoiled and whiny and wonder about my screener. That said, I also haven’t checked the mail in several days. By the way, Game Of Thrones fans, Episode 9 has been pre-empted because of Memorial Day and Candelabra will air in its place so don’t be surprised if you tune in on Sunday expecting the Khaleesi and find a lot of rhinestone, marble, and hairspray instead. Michael B Jordan in Cannes

After seeing Fruitvale Station (when did they add the “Station”?) at Sundance, THR’s Todd McCarthy called Michael B Jordan the next Denzel Washington. And as I wrote back in January. Full Story
Tom Cruise & JJ Abrams

Tom Cruise was at the Star Trek Into Darkness premiere last night. He did not walk the carpet but showed up for the after-party. As you know, it’s not his style to attend the opening of just anything. The official reason is that he was there to support his friends. But this was a strategic move too. Full Story
Aaron Taylor-Johnson Channing Tatum-ed and Hulked
Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Steveston (just outside Vancouver) today shooting Godzilla. As you can see, he’s muscled up for the role. There’s a little Channing Tatum going on here, non? And a Hulk in his pants. Oh stop. I mean the rip, see? The rip at the crotch? ATJ and his wife Sam Taylor-Wood, together my obsession, have been in Vancouver for several weeks now with their children. Full Story
Black Widow, Falcon, and oh yeah, Captain America

Chris Evans is not on my Five List. So while he may have the title of the movie, he doesn’t get the title of my post. Not when Scarlett Johansson and Anthony Mackie are around. Here they are shooting Captain America: The Winter Soldier in Washington, DC yesterday. Why does Falcon have to wear a sweatshirt? Why can’t they put him in a skin-tight tee? Why can’t I be the one laughing at his jokes? And when you think Natasha Romanoff, do you think this hair? I don’t understand it at all. Full Story
Will Jakey sing?

They’re making a film adaptation of Into The Woods directed by Rob Marshall. Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp are already attached. Apparently Jake Gyllenhaal and Chris Pine are now in talks to join them...? That’s looking like an impressive cast, not unlike the one Marshall put together for Nine a few years ago. Full Story
Hitting on Katie Holmes
Page Six has a really hilarious story about people hitting on Katie Holmes on the set of Mania Days in New York. Apparently “she’s been asked out seven times”... By crew members and extras! According to the report, the men are “just chancing it”, the way they would, I dunno, at a bar or something. Full Story
The Time Traveller's Wife...but better
The book was good. The movie was sh-t. Really, really terrible. When was the last time you saw a good romance? A proper romance. Not a romantic scene in a movie that isn't a romance but a movie that's intended to be romantic. Or a romantic comedy. It's been a while. I've been waiting a while. Full Story
Katie holds hands
Dave Spencer/ Splash
Was Katie Holmes allowed to be properly romantic in a movie while she was married to Tom Cruise? Her movies were so sh-t when she was married to Tom Cruise, I didn’t bother. Did you? If so, please tell me. Also, how did you make it through Jack & Jill? Here she is on the set of Mania Days in New York today with Luke Kirby. Full Story
The Artist’s “public persona”
James Franco covers the new comedy issue of GQ because he stars in the upcoming This Is The End. Why are only Apatow people considered for comedy prime coverage? So now he’s a comedian too, in addition to being an actor, director, painter, poet, and academic... Have I missed anything? Maybe illusionist? Master manipulator? No, no, no. Full Story
Katniss on the mountain
Check out this new poster for Catching Fire. Katniss is almost mythological now. The movie isn’t due until November 22 but I hear things are going well in post and they’re working on adding special effects and music right now to the full cut of the film. Apparently preproduction for the third and fourth installments will start in June and possible shooting locations include Atlanta, Detroit, and Paris. Full Story
Now You See Me ... adding Jesse Eisenberg?
TK /Splash
I left Toronto for Vegas on Friday for The Hangover 3 junket. Those interviews will air on ETALK over the next couple of weeks. My flight back to Vancouver wasn’t until Sunday but many of the reporters left on Saturday to head straight to New Orleans for the Now You See Me junket. Several of them had already screened it prior to the trip because of the Hangover overlap and almost all of them told me it’s really, really good. Full Story
Ranger in Tokyo, Tonto in LA
Wenn, Pacific Coast News
Armie Hammer was in Tokyo today promoting The Lone Ranger all by himself. But you know how the Japanese feel about Johnny Depp. Johnny is shooting Transcendence in LA right now and couldn’t make it. I’m sure they’ll have him back at a later date. Johnny’s actually pretty fun when he goes to Japan. Full Story
