The erudite divorce

I don’t know what that is but I’m sure Ashley Judd would be able to tell me.
It is sad, of course, when a marriage ends. Sometimes when a marriage ends, it’s also smug. Not us, but them. Ashley Judd and Dario Franchitti announced their separation yesterday. They released this statement which she ostensibly wrote herself because she is so erudite:
"We have mutually decided to end our marriage. We'll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed.”
But this is quite an achievement, and I mean it sincerely. I’ve never read a divorce announcement that’s so... superior.
Theirs was a “special” love, as opposed to the ordinary kind. And the use of “integrity” here, it’s almost... haughty, a self-compliment embedded in a statement about a breakup. Maybe she is the most erudite celebrity of them all.
Attached -- Ashley and Dario (I love this name) through the years. He reminds me a little of Oscar Isaac.
