George Clooney is in Germany directing his next film The Monuments Men with Matt Damon, Bill Murray, and John Goodman. Goodman has starred in the last two Oscar winning pictures, right? Will he go 3 for 3 for George? Now this looks like a good time. And especially hilarious, to me at least, is that Bill Murray’s on a smartphone. Full Story
Dear Gossips,
Moonrise Kingdom opened Cannes last night. Photos of the cast on the carpet at the Palais including Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray, and Edward Norton, who looked sooooooo great and so fresh and not truculent at all, are attached. And how was it?
I love Wes Anderson movies. If you love Wes Anderson movies, you’ll probably love Moonrise Kingdom too. I LOVED it. Yes, he is so full of random it borders on pretentious and can, for some, feel smug. No I can’t argue against those who would insist that he’s odd by choice and as such not really odd but artificial. Not that I agree, but it’s pointless to argue. Or, rather, that is the point. There will never be a Show Me The Money! moment in a Wes Anderson movie. This time however there is some emotion. A lot of it. In place of the detachment that accompanies much of his work, Anderson’s Moonrise is devastatingly heartfelt. Read Full Intro
Cannes 2012: Heavy on Hollywood
(Lainey: I’m still catching up after flying overnight to Cannes. Trying to rush out a few new articles but let’s start first with Sarah’s Cannes preview since they’re all starting to arrive. I screen Moonrise Kingdom tonight. Attached - the cast at the photo call today.) The Cannes Film Festival is always glamorous and Hollywood is always well represented, but this year seems particularly heavy on the star power, headed, of course, by the Brange. Full Story
Funny people award shows
Less than two hours. Remarks are kept short. No montages. And no James Franco. The First Annual Comedy Awards hosted by Comedy Central took place in New York this weekend. That would have been a good ticket, non? Tracy Morgan presented to Eddie Murphy. Colbert was a bitter bitch, you know, on stage with Jon Stewart. Full Story

Bill Murray’s random amazingness was a regular part of this blog in 2010. Click here for his feature in the Best of the Year article. When he walked into an elevator. And kissed some dude. And then walked back out, ominously declaring “no one will ever believe you”. Full Story
Best of 2010: Bill Murray

Be jealous
A reader called Leah R sent me this email earlier this week and made me so jealous I couldn’t post it until today. Thank you Leah. But I hate you a little. I’ve been writing about Bill Murray’s amazing randomness for a while. Click here Full Story
6 narcissists at the table
This is your weekend assignment. Because who has the time during the week to spend an hour on this, even though it’s 60 minutes of pure amazingness? The Hollywood Reporter Actors’ Roundtable is embedded below. Enjoy it, maybe over breakfast on Sunday, really savour the experience. I broke it up into two parts on Wednesday night during my playlist making, loved it, but wonder if I would have even more if I hadn’t paused. Full Story
Bill Murray memories & please don’t be mad at me
I don’t hate on Megan Fox as hard as other people. She says dumb sh-t. She has a weird pretend face. She’s crazy and temperamental. But I have more time for Megan than, say, Shelfy. Which doesn’t mean I love her, of course not. Just that, well, now and again I am capable of saying nice things about her. Full Story
Dumpster diving
This is what Bill Murray did on Letterman last night. That’s another thing about Letterman over Leno. Cool people prefer Letterman. Bill Murray definitely prefers Letterman. Bill Murray would probably dive into a dumpster for reals before giving Leno any more love than necessary. And Bill went back to Letterman last night to promote Get Low and to also test out Dave’s new dumpster pool. Full Story
How to give great interview by Bill Murray
He doesn’t do it often. He doesn’t work often. He doesn’t have an agent or a publicist. You can only reach him via 800 number. For reals. So when he does talk, he makes it worthwhile. Always. There was a great article about Bill Murray a couple of weeks ago in Entertainment Weekly about how reclusive and weird he is, about the infamous 800 number, about how you have to fax pages to a random Kinko’s if he’s interested enough to read the script – he’s everything you want your weird celebrity to be and he can back his sh-t up with legitimate skill, original, irreplaceable skill. George helps
The G8 summit is happening now in L’Aquila, Italy and after spending his vacation at Lake Como with Bill Murray paddling with the ladies and boozy dinners with more ladies George Clooney dropped by and toured the area hit by the earthquake. He’s also supposed to be in town for a theatre opening. Full Story
Clooney & Murray in Italy
We all know George Clooney summers at Lake Como and entertains a revolving door of celebrity visitors – the latest is the recently single Bill Murray. Boys on vacation…smutty trouble! Here they are on the water, paddling, and um, enjoying the view. Then at night it’s out for dinner, throwing back some drinks, obviously accompanied by the ladies, one of them supposedly an Italian actress called Manuel Arcuri. Full Story
