Jim Carrey Gossip
Jim Carrey gossip, latest news, photos, and video.
I don’t think I’ve ever laughed harder in a movie than I did when I first saw Dumb and Dumber. It was a perfect convergence of comedy: I was twelve, Jim Carrey was at the top of his game, and the Farrelly Brothers’ gross-out aesthetic was brand new. Dumb and Dumber felt less like a movie and more like a collection of related skits. Full Story
Jim Carrey is in Kick-Ass 2. This weekend, Carrey tweeted that he’s changed his mind about the movie. That he can no longer promote the film because it’s too violent:
I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence. My apologies to others involved with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.
Here’s how the film’s writer responded to Carrey’s criticism:
“[I'm] baffled by this sudden announcement as nothing seen in this picture wasn’t in the screenplay eighteen months ago. Read Full Intro
I really need Jim Carrey to stop with his feet. He keeps walking around with these feet. To promote Burt Wonderstone, I guess? And it’s supposed to be funny... It’s not funny. It’s gross. Maybe it wouldn’t be so gross if there was something caricaturish about them beyond the size. Full Story
I was a big fan of Jim Carrey when I was a kid. In Living Color was one of my touchstones, one of my earliest influences and it (and Kids in the Hall--hands down, Canada’s most important cultural export besides Strange Brew) was one of the first things that made me want to be a comedian. I loved Carrey on that show. Full Story
Let me start by saying I despise Jenny McCarthy. This will not be unbiased, nor will it be kind. Jenny went on the Howard Stern Show this week to promote the new reality show she’s hosting and her upcoming Playboy spread (July/August issue). Talk turned to Jim Carrey not visiting her son, Evan, since the split. Full Story
Steve Carell and Jim Carrey are teaming up in a comedy about rival magicians called Burt Wonderstone (doesn’t that sound like a Will Ferrell character?), and the short list for the female lead is the randomest group of actresses I’ve seen in a long time—Olivia Wilde, Michelle Monaghan, Judy Greer, Jessica Biel and Sarah Silverman. It’s taken forever to release this movie. For obvious reasons. Because homosexuals are still denied equal rights in too many parts of the world. Finally however I Love You Phillip Morris will hit theatres in New York, LA, and San Francisco on December 3 and then go wide through the rest of the month. Full Story
They say there’s a recession but you wouldn’t know it here in Cannes. They say the studios have scaled back a fair bit. It’s my fourth year, so far it doesn’t seem so different, but then again, I’m not wheeling and dealing in backrooms. Whatever’s happened on the hustle however doesn’t seem have made a difference on the Croisette. Full Story
Thankfully, for every five useless f-cks at Sundance, there is a Ewan McGregor. It takes away the sting.I want. I die. Oh Ewan. He brought his quiver to the festival to promote I Love You Philip Morris with Jim Carrey, the true story of a Texas conman who broke out of prison 4 times. Ewan plays the love of his life Philip Morris. Full Story
