The first trailer for Johnny Depp’s Transcendence was released this weekend. Johnny Depp doesn’t wear fake teeth. Or a wig. Or cartoon makeup. And he doesn’t speak in an accent. Jesus, how long has it been?
It’s so nice to hear his “regular” voice – a deep drawl, more suited to a rock star than a scientist, but let’s not complain. That said, would Johnny Depp wouldn’t spend an entire movie in “costume” without changing form? Which is why he then becomes a computer. Which is a simplistic way of describing a complicated storyline – that they try to preserve his brain, his memories, so that they can carry on with their tech project after he dies, only, of course, iJohnny is unpredictable and evil and he might wipe out the world. At least that’s what I *think* is happening.
There are a lot of notables in this movie. Depp is joined by Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany, Cillian Murphy, Kate Mara, Leonardo DiCaprio’s best friend, and, of course, the narrator Morgan Freeman. I’m interested. You?
