Don’t focus on the positive

Duana says kill their dreams. Me, I say forget about following your dreams. During a recent interview with The Globe & Mail about success and achievement, I noted how dumb it was that “follow your dreams” is dispensed as advice more often than “work hard”. That makes sense though, right?
This is the age of the Special. They are all Special. They are all Stars.
And Justin Bieber, the Star, age 19, he performed in London at the O2 but was two hours late meaning many of his fans had to leave right after he started because otherwise they wouldn’t have made the train schedule home. Some parents were livid about the delay, understandably. Think of the age range of the audience.
JB apologised. On Twitter, of course.
since i have been here it hasnt been easy with the press at times but I have loved it. so let me say this...
last night i was scheduled after 3 opening acts to go on stage at 935 not 830 but because of some technical issues i got on at 10:10..so...
i was 40 min late to stage. there is no excuse for that and I apologize for anyone we upset. However it was great show and Im proud of that
and tonight we will run on time and look forward to putting on an amazing show for everyone in attendance.
my relationship with the media is not always easy but im trying. Im all about the music and the performance and i respect my fans.
i never have any intent to upset or let anyone down. and Im not okay with things being exaggerated. once again sorry for anyone upset.
now we have a show to do today and Im gonna focus on the positive and put on a great show tonight here in London
First of all, Bieber’s 40 minute claim conflicts with fan/parent reports and the media’s account which was TWO HOURS. And technical issues? If by technical issues you mean he couldn’t get off because the weed’s making him soft, sure, that I believe.
But does this sound like someone who’s actually sorry?
Or does this sound like someone who’s pissy?
There’s no contrition here. There’s no remorse. And why would there be?
This is a generation that’s never been asked to feel any. This is a generation of dream followers and believers, a generation that ONLY and EXCLUSIVELY...
Focuses on the positive.
“Im gonna focus on the positive and put on a great show tonight here in London”
Well, that took about, what?, maybe 3 minutes? For him to tweet those messages and go from apology to “focus on the positive”?
Like following dreams, and believing in yourself, and I am special, “focusing on the positive” is also the problem.
Because IT IS ALWAYS POSITIVE. When is it never not positive? These people can turn a major sh-t into cinnamon bun, seriously, and they will eat it, and you see it on reality shows all the time.
They told me I suck as a singer but I have good energy so I’m just going to focus on the positive. They told me they loved my energy so I’ll keep working on that and you’ll see me again next year America!
How about less focus on the positive and more focus on the negative and how you f-cked up? How about focusing on your mistakes as a way to not make them again?
It’s not the Justin Bieber way. That’s now how you Believe these days. That’s not how his mother raised him -- to know he was special, to follow his dreams, and to focus on the positive...
And look what we have!
Another entitled child star on his way!
What’s craziest though is this: It’s not the exception that they turn out a mess; it’s the exception that they end up ok. Would you say, like, generously...maybe 75%?
If 75% of white cars ended up in collisions, you’d never buy a white car.
If 75% of all green vegetables caused skin disease, you’d never eat green vegetables.
If 75% of homes with basements eventually became sinkholes, we’d all live in apartments.
75% of child stars end up Lohaned and f-cked.
And yet... people keep trying to turn their kids into child stars.
