Chiwetel Ejiofor was not at the Oscar Nominees Luncheon yesterday. Michael Fassbender wasn’t either. And Brad Pitt was absent too. So it was left to Lupita Nyong’o to represent 12 Years A Slave as a nominee for Best Supporting Actress. She’s the film’s only sure thing as Ejiofor sits a distant third, if that, behind Matthew McConaughey and Leonardo DiCaprio for Best Actor, Fassbender won’t stand up, and the movie’s in a tight fight for Best Picture. Full Story

Lupita Nyong'o sat courtside at the Knicks game yesterday and everyone wanted a piece of her. Look. She's the most popular girl at MSG. She's the most popular girl on the award circuit. Even more popular than Jennifer Lawrence since people (unfairly, arguably) seem to be tired of the Jennifer Lawrence. Full Story

Lupita Nyong’o is now the frontrunner for Best Supporting Actress Oscar. And she’s playing the pole position perfectly. Which means Jennifer Lawrence’s chances are pretty sh-t and, unlike, say, someone like Jonah Hill, she doesn’t seem to mind. In fact, it actually seems like she’s happy the pressure is off her. Full Story

The Screen Actors Guild made some stupid choices at the SAG Awards the other night. Like, I love Helen Mirren but even she knew that shouldn’t have been hers. And HOW is Maggie Smith the best over Kerry Washington and Anna Gunn? F-cking Downton Abbey. So it’s not just the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that votes out of their asses. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

So gracious, so charming, so popular – easily the most popular last night at the Critics’ Choice Awards as everyone wanted a moment with her…because Lupita Nyong’o is definitely having a moment right now. And she won the Best Supporting Actress award over American Sweethearts Julia Roberts and Jennifer Lawrence which makes Saturday even more interesting. If Lupita can take it at the SAGs, just as Academy voters are filling in their ballots, we might just see her ride that all the way to the Dolby Theatre on March 2. And I can’t wait to see what she’s wearing. Last night it was a white Calvin Klein and I actually prefer over the red cape from the Golden Globes. It was lovely, yes. But as you know, red on a red carpet will never take me over the edge.

Watch her acceptance speech below.  Read Full Intro

The very first whispers of the Golden Globes kissed my fingers through Twitter this year, and what it said was “Lupita Nyong’o in…Ralph Lauren? Really?”  Over and over again this sentiment came up. Until everyone saw the dress, and then everyone had to change their tweeting to tired jokes about Kelly Osbourne’s hair. Full Story

Steve McQueen shouted out Brad Pitt at the very end of his speech last night. “Wherever you are”… get your ass in campaign mode. 12 Years A Slave won, yes. But the momentum right now is for American Hustle and Gravity. Oscar nominations are coming down this Thursday. Everybody else is out there hustling. Full Story

Look, I might argue that the TV ladies’ roundtable was a little more fun and rollicking, but there is no denying this was a delicious interview, whether you consume it on video (again, it’s an hour, but it doesn’t feel that long) or in print. Full Story

Well there’s also Oprah, for her work in The Butler. But lovely Lupita Nyong’o is coming on strong.  Nyong’o received the New Hollywood Award last night for her performance in 12 Years A Slave, introduced by the ageless Angela Bassett. Nyong’o’s emotional speech – full of gratitude and humility and charm – was one of the favourites of the evening. Full Story
