Sarah from Cinesnark and I were sent this video today on Twitter by @daibyday -- thanks! It’s Tilda Swinton from a few days ago and she showed up at EbertFest 2013 and called on the audience to participate in a dance along. Full Story
The Win in Swinton
FameFlynet, GSNY/ Splash
Has there ever been a case before where one celebrity had the best magazine cover, art installation, and boyfriend in all of Hollywood at the same time? Because that’s what Tilda Swinton is pulling off right now, and she’s making it look way too easy. Here she is pictured out in NY, appearing both in love and like a quintessentially chic member of the Avant-guard. Full Story
Dear Gossips,
Moonrise Kingdom opened Cannes last night. Photos of the cast on the carpet at the Palais including Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray, and Edward Norton, who looked sooooooo great and so fresh and not truculent at all, are attached. And how was it?
I love Wes Anderson movies. If you love Wes Anderson movies, you’ll probably love Moonrise Kingdom too. I LOVED it. Yes, he is so full of random it borders on pretentious and can, for some, feel smug. No I can’t argue against those who would insist that he’s odd by choice and as such not really odd but artificial. Not that I agree, but it’s pointless to argue. Or, rather, that is the point. There will never be a Show Me The Money! moment in a Wes Anderson movie. This time however there is some emotion. A lot of it. In place of the detachment that accompanies much of his work, Anderson’s Moonrise is devastatingly heartfelt. Read Full Intro
Cannes 2012: Heavy on Hollywood
(Lainey: I’m still catching up after flying overnight to Cannes. Trying to rush out a few new articles but let’s start first with Sarah’s Cannes preview since they’re all starting to arrive. I screen Moonrise Kingdom tonight. Attached - the cast at the photo call today.) The Cannes Film Festival is always glamorous and Hollywood is always well represented, but this year seems particularly heavy on the star power, headed, of course, by the Brange. Full Story
Best BAFTA Hair: Tilda Swinton
CARL COURT/Dave J Hogan/Getty
A severe side part, height around the crown, and some body. I wish I could be so...brave. My excuse is that my hair doesn’t grow like that. I know this because I tried it. At 12. And again at 19. Which is when you have the balls for it. And the youth to be able to play it off. I recommend this... Just once. Full Story
Uma vs Tilda: Tall-off!
Dave Benett/Vittorio Zunino Celotto/Getty
Last night in Milan at the Vertu Global Launch of the Constellation, whatever that means, here are Uma Thurman - looking amazing - and Tilda Swinton looking like Tilda so, obviously, awesome, and the both need to stand up straight because I want to see who’s taller.Celebrities, as you know, are always smaller in real life. TIFF 2011: Sasha’s Watch List
Written by Sasha Starting today some serious star wattage will be hitting the streets of T-dot. My peepers will be wide open for the flyest gear, but before it starts rolling out let’s get our s-TIFF-ies for who’s coming to town. Full Story
Dear Gossips,
Am writing this open having just come from the 830am press screening for We Need To Talk About Kevin. Maybe not the most uplifting way to start the day. Feeling very...unsettled. But we now have a major contender for the Palme d'Or. And for Best Actress. At least in my mind. Tilda Swinton is extraordinary. As for the film - if you read the book, you need to see it. I'll have more thoughts on it at a later date, once I go through my notes and, well, start writing on a laptop as opposed to a blackberry but suffice to say - they did not f-ck it up. Lynne Ramsay definitely did not f-ck it up. And goddamn it was so beautifully shot.
As I was exiting the theatre - and it was packed, being the only British entry in competition at the festival I think - I overheard a journalist remarking that "the applause seemed to be reluctant". Read Full Intro
Someone’s face got fuller
I almost didn’t recognise Hayden Christensen, here with Tilda Swinton and Chloe Sevigny in Berlin at the Hugo Boss show. Too much beer? Hayden’s face normally has a few more angles. Dylan says it’s democracy at work, that women aren’t the only ones who lose their cheekbones at a certain age. Full Story
One minute acting
A lot of you have been sending me this today: the New York Times video featuring (mostly) world class actors “acting” for a minute. Let’s call this what it is, ok? It’s a little pretentious and contrived. Come on now… The black and white, the music, the self involvement disguised as art – this kind of sh-t alienates people. Full Story
Tilda in Venice
For Venus Noire last night. A vision. Tilda was there with Luca Guadagnino, her director from I Am Love. While promoting I Am Love a few moths ago, Tilda was interviewed by Katie Couric – did you ever see it? If no, it’s worth a look when you have some time. To hear her speak, so articulately, so elegantly, she is mesmerising. Full Story
I’m convinced Tilda does this on purpose
Written by Sarah From Kristen Stewart’s easy breezy steeze to Tilda Swinton’s what-the -f*ck-ever-this-is, it’s my day for fashion posts I guess. It’s because I wrote about Chris Evans and made fun of Zefron the other day. Full Story
Tilda is Eva
We Need To Talk About Kevin is on my 25 Books list. Click here to view. Not sure if you can love a book like Kevin, but it certainly stays with you. And it attacks that notion, that common refrain you hear all the time from women these days: that childbirth and motherhood is transformative. Full Story
Tilda, Coco, and Kevin
Tilda Swinton is at Sundance promoting I Am Love. She is Woman. She is Best. She is Coco. As you know, during his final monologue on The Tonight Show, Conan O’Brien joked that Tilda would play him on the HBO movie about the late night wars. When asked about this during the junket, Tilda said she was game Full Story
