Tilda Swinton Gossip
Tilda Swinton gossip, latest news, photos, and video.
Am writing this open having just come from the 830am press screening for We Need To Talk About Kevin. Maybe not the most uplifting way to start the day. Feeling very...unsettled. But we now have a major contender for the Palme d'Or. And for Best Actress. At least in my mind. Tilda Swinton is extraordinary. As for the film - if you read the book, you need to see it. I'll have more thoughts on it at a later date, once I go through my notes and, well, start writing on a laptop as opposed to a blackberry but suffice to say - they did not f-ck it up. Lynne Ramsay definitely did not f-ck it up. And goddamn it was so beautifully shot.
As I was exiting the theatre - and it was packed, being the only British entry in competition at the festival I think - I overheard a journalist remarking that "the applause seemed to be reluctant". Read Full Intro
I almost didn’t recognise Hayden Christensen, here with Tilda Swinton and Chloe Sevigny in Berlin at the Hugo Boss show. Too much beer? Hayden’s face normally has a few more angles. Dylan says it’s democracy at work, that women aren’t the only ones who lose their cheekbones at a certain age. Full Story
A lot of you have been sending me this today: the New York Times video featuring (mostly) world class actors “acting” for a minute. Let’s call this what it is, ok? It’s a little pretentious and contrived. Come on now… The black and white, the music, the self involvement disguised as art – this kind of sh-t alienates people. Full Story
For Venus Noire last night. A vision. Tilda was there with Luca Guadagnino, her director from I Am Love. While promoting I Am Love a few moths ago, Tilda was interviewed by Katie Couric – did you ever see it? If no, it’s worth a look when you have some time. To hear her speak, so articulately, so elegantly, she is mesmerising. Full Story
We Need To Talk About Kevin is on my 25 Books list. Click here to view. Not sure if you can love a book like Kevin, but it certainly stays with you. And it attacks that notion, that common refrain you hear all the time from women these days: that childbirth and motherhood is transformative. Full Story
Tilda Swinton is at Sundance promoting I Am Love. She is Woman. She is Best. She is Coco. As you know, during his final monologue on The Tonight Show, Conan O’Brien joked that Tilda would play him on the HBO movie about the late night wars. When asked about this during the junket, Tilda said she was game Full Story
Emma Thompson put her name on that petition. You know the one. The one that so many of them signed in support of Roman Polanski. SO MANY. And among them so many of our favourites. Like Emma Thompson. But now an update, thanks to Elizabeth for sending the link. Apparently Emma was recently confronted by someone disappointed in her decision and she explained that she’d been rethinking it and promised to remove her name from the list. Full Story
Tilda Swinton is in Venice for the film festival promoting a film called lo sono l’amore. Don’t care what it’s about. Tilda is all that matters. She also walked the carpet for Michael Moore’s latest Capitalism: A Love Story. Early reviews for Capitalism are positive. Of course. Full Story
It begins. Another Cannes Film Festival. And at tonight’s opening gala, a goddess arrived. Her name? Tilda Swinton. Please. Who else? I LOVE how far she has to bend down to greet that woman. I LOVE how graceful she is. I LOVE how beautiful she is. Beautiful but not delicate. And this is good. Full Story
Here’s the thing – you probably hate this. But you’re not Tilda Swinton. Tilda Swinton isn’t a pretty strapless gown kind of girl. Actually, Tilda is not a girl period. Tilda is a woman. Her own woman. And she dresses for herself. And it’s not mainstream, it’s not conventional, it’s sometimes not even attractive… but it’s always, always original. Full Story
Cate and Tilda. Tried desperately to find one of them together but gave up after 5 minutes. My heart would have exploded anyway. Love them both so much. Cate wore McQueen in a bell shape with some kind of extraneous nylon tube underneath which could have been disastrous on anyone else but… it’s Cate Blanchett. Full Story
Is she freaky-looking by conventional standards? Of course. Was her dress ugly as sh*t? Absolutely. But this is what makes Tilda Swinton so f&cking cool. She.Is.Cool. SO cool. I saw her on Saturday night at the Beverly Hills Hotel wearing a bright but pale pink shift and sky high heels with white makeup and borderline ugly but at the same time sexy as all hell. Full Story
