Despite generally positive reviews and five Oscar nominations, the English-language adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo didn’t bowl over the box office. Still, Sony announced they would go ahead with the sequels, which to me was always the point of remaking the Swedish films anyway. Full Story

Look, I don’t want you to think I’m not in favour of change. I love change, and I loved the hint, last night, that the Golden Globes don’t have to be quite as formal all the time as the other shows. Shorter dresses said hello and all. Do you think, though, that this is how we should be going, Weisz? Do you think this is a good example of how to change things up? Miles of see-through Swiss-Dot? With a Best Picture field that can accommodate anything from 5 to 10 nominees, the last few years always featured talk about which of the more populist films could be included in the Oscar race. Skyfall is getting great reviews. Some people, prone to hyperbole, are even proclaiming that Skyfall is so great, it qualifies as the best Bond ever. They’ll be fighting over that forever. Daniel Craig, new Bond Girls Naomie Harrie, Berenice Marlohe, and the rest of the Bond team including director Sam Mendes attended a photo call in Istanbul yesterday where many previous Bonds have filmed before; it’s apparently Ian Fleming’s “favourite city”. As expected they’ve kept the story for Bond Skyfall pretty locked but some speculate that the relationship between Bond and M is tested when sh-t from her past comes back to f-ck things up. Full Story
