James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender at Comic-Con for X-Men: Apocalypse. And then were interviewed on Conan, talking about how fans have been shipping their situation. It’s a great video. They’re great together. They’re sexy together. Especially James. Even without hair. And he has great hair! It’s thick and wavy and hot. Full Story

Michael Fassbender was photographed in London yesterday hanging out with friends. Fassbender’s been busy, working on the Steve Jobs movie earlier this year, then in Cannes to promote Macbeth, and production is now underway on X-Men: Apocalypse. And they’re saying much of the story will be about his character’s relationship with Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique. Full Story

Following its well-received premiere in Cannes a couple weeks ago, the first teaser trailer for Macbeth was released today. It’s good. Really good. A lot better, to me at least, than those clips that were released during the festival. Michael Fassbender is convincingly unhinged. You can almost see the moral rot leaking from his eyes. Full Story

Michael Fassbender in Slow West

A crafty subversion of the Western genre, Slow West is in turns hypnotic, lyrical, and absurd. It’s a pitch-black dark comedy centered on a hopelessly romantic quest that’s more interested in episodic beats than it is a cohesive narrative, which means it won’t be for everyone. Slow West is not badly paced—not at all—but it does present a challenge to the viewer. Full Story

Macbeth was screened at Cannes to very strong reviews for everything – the performances, the cinematography, the pace of the story… And for a minute there it looked like it might contend for the Palme d’Or. Instead, it ended up being Jacques Audiard’s Dheepan. That doesn’t mean it won’t be a player at the Oscars though. Full Story

Marion Cotillard and Michael Fassbender looked like they were having a great time together last night at the amfAR gala in Cannes ahead of the premiere of Macbeth at the festival, one of the most highly anticipated films in competition. Two new clips have just been released showing Fassbender’s Macbeth at his coronation, looking well on his way to derangement, and then later in battle with some curious directing decisions, at least to me. Full Story

Check out Shark Man as Computer Jesus

The first trailer for the Steve Jobs biopic written by Aaron Sorkin, creatively titled Steve Jobs, is here and it does not show much beyond Michael Fassbender in a black turtleneck and glasses as Jobs. The movie is still shooting, so it’s no surprise there’s not much footage available, but I do like the tone this trailer is setting. Full Story

Ahead of its premiere in Cannes, a teaser for Macbeth has been released featuring Michael Fassbender and ending with Marion Cotillard and the line: What’s done cannot be undone. To bed, to bed, to bed She only says “to bed” once here in the preview but you’ll recall from English class that it’s almost like a mantra for her at that point. Full Story

Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown It’s from a different Shakespeare play but I’ve always been fascinated by this quote. And I wonder if it’s still true. Because the power now is in the money. And, well, Rupert Murdoch may have had a few sleepless nights here and there but, come on, do you really doubt that he sleeps well? Anyway, the quote. Full Story

Two of the finest actors of a generation playing the Frank and Claire Underwood of their time. You want ambition? The Macbeths knew ambition. Full Story

It’s been a while since we’ve had any new pap shots of Michael Fassbender. When he shows up though, he doesn’t disappoint. Here he is in New York on Saturday with Alicia Vikander. They fell in love last year in Australia while shooting The Light Between Oceans. As you can see, that hasn’t changed. Full Story

Michael Fassbender’s passion project, the Western Slow West, is currently making the festival rounds and is expected in theaters later this year. It’s the feature film debut of Scottish writer/director John Maclean and it’s produced by Fassbender’s shingle, DMC, and it looks very, very cool. Full Story

After a very public, turbulent pre-production phase, the Steve Jobs biopic written by Aaron Sorkin—disappointingly titled Steve Jobs and not Computer Jesus—is officially underway and shooting around San Francisco. After being plagued by casting problems ranging from a leading Full Story
