Am I allowed to say now that the final episode of Serial was… frustrating? Frustrating is a safe word, right? It’s been frustrating for a few weeks now. I finally gave in and started googling about 10 days ago because I just, you know, like, I dunno, (in Sarah speak), certain questions weren’t being asked. I felt deflated to start the day. And then…by the end of the night…
If we’re talking final episodes, Colbert’s was perfect.
And it’s not because he had so many celebrity guests (Cookie Monster was the best, obviously). You know what I appreciate about Stephen Colbert? Or at the least the version of Colbert that was presented on The Colbert Report, who’s now achieved immortality alongside Santa, Unicorn Lincoln, and Alex Trebek (HAHAHAHA)?
It’s that he was ALWAYS Colbert.
There was no crying. There’s no crying in baseball, and there’s no f-cking crying in satire!
There is, however, a new, exciting question: Who are you now Stephen Colbert? See you in September.
Have a great weekend!

Not quite the same as Tom Hardy and a puppy…but, again, my flavour is not your flavour. So Happy Christmas, Hiddle-Hards, here’s your man arriving at LAX yesterday wearing what looks to be the same hoodie he was wearing in a video that was circulating the other day of him singing in the studio with a dog on his lap. After weeks of Sony Hack drama, intensifying over the last couple of days following Sony’s decision to pull The Interview, we are now hearing directly from George Clooney. The Hollywood Chairman speaks. Clooney makes it clear that Amy Pascal has his support. Specifically, he supported Pascal and Sony’s initial position to not to give in to the hackers’ demands. Nadine! Merry Christmas! From… Hayley. Because she needed me to “help convince my mom I listen to her”. Apparently you’re not the “candle stick, gardening glove, hey-i-made-you-another-f*cking-craft kinda mom because that would be easy”. Instead, what you wanted for Christmas was a teenager not being self-absorbed for a change. Full Story
What I really want to do here is to write about Serial. But it’s 9 o’clock in the morning and many of you probably haven’t listened to it yet, the final episode. Fine. Can we talk about how and why there are only 12 episodes?
Why not extend it all season like a network television show? Who says Serial has to be cable? Who says Serial has to be HBO? It’s not like we WON’T RUN OUT OF QUESTIONS, GODDAMMIT! If I could figure out how to do that, I would have posted that last sentence in ever increasing font sizes so you could appreciate how I’m gradually getting louder and Louder and LOUDER.
At what point does something become a hate-listen the way a television show becomes a hate-watch? And are we there yet with Serial?
Am tempted, when it slows down next week, to do a live-blog about this so we can all yell our theories at each other and end up blueballed and unsatisfied. Read Full Intro

Prince Hot Harry was seen arriving at Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s Christmas lunch yesterday. Prince William and Catherine too. It was a royal convoy. On December 5 however Harry was in Lesotho for his foundation Sentebale. The pictures have just been released. And they’ve been selected by Harry himself…with captions. Full Story
So a new batch of emails from the Sony Hack now involve Denzel Washington. It’s a message from an unnamed producer to Michael Lynton, Chair & CEO. According to Radar, the producer writes that it’s bad business to keep casting Denzel Washington in movies because international audiences don’t want to watch black actors. Full Story
It’s a day for lasts. The last Serial, and tonight, the last episode of The Colbert Report. Tonight Stephen Colbert signs off as his fake-conservative persona and next year, he’ll re-emerge as simply himself, taking over David Letterman’s Late Show. For nine years The Colbert Report has been a late-night comedy staple, but I’m excited to see what Colbert does next. Full Story

You know how for a while there we were calling Taylor Swift the “friend collector”? Look at how Jennifer Aniston is working this Oscar campaign. There are celebrities everywhere jumping up on top of each other to host Cake screenings and events and interviews etc for her, to help her push for a nomination. Full Story

Gawker continues to analyse all the information coming out of the Sony hack, in particular Amy Pascal’s emails with and between Angelina Jolie and Scott Rudin. It’s a lot of back and forth over several months. I’ll post the link below for you to go through it piece by piece but, basically, even after Rudin called her “minimally talented” and “spoiled” in February, he and Pascal continued to engage Angelina about the Cleopatra movie.
