Last week, after Kiefer Sutherland decided to smash his head up against another dude’s face causing injury – in defence of Brooke Shields – a statement was released on her behalf that effectively sold him out. At the time, she supposedly announced via her publicists that she’d no idea why Kiefer would have reacted that way and that Jack McCollough, the victim of the headbutt, did nothing wrong.

McCollough has already asserted that he was on the receiving end of a violent attack.

Now Brooke has changed her story. Her people claim that those original comments were not authorised. Nearly a week later, she’s officially released a statement that plants her firmly on the fence between the two men:

"A number of statements have been attributed to Ms. Shields in the media that are neither true nor authorized. These statements were obviously made by those who were not in attendance at the party and constitute their version of events. While at the party she was bumped into by Jack McCollough and Kiefer Sutherland became concerned. Kiefer has always been a gentleman in her company. Both Jack and Kiefer are friends of Ms. Shields and she regrets this unfortunate situation.
"

Became concerned?

How does concern turn into ramming your head against someone else’s? Apparently Kiefer had his reasons. His attorneys insist he’ll be exonerated:

"We are troubled by the untruthful and self-serving information circulating regarding Kiefer Sutherland and events of last Monday evening. We are confident, however, that the investigation being conducted by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office and the NYPD will confirm that Kiefer Sutherland was neither the instigator nor a wrongdoer in this incident."

Let the spin begin!

Here’s Kiefer after presenting himself to authorities last week.
