I’ve really, really liked Elizabeth Banks ever since The 40 Year Old Virgin. She’s smart and funny and a great character actress in a time when everyone is trying to be a leading lady. There were several peplums represented last night.  To me Amy Poehler wore hers best. She looked the most comfortable. And really, really confident. We are just about 5 months away from The Hunger Games movie in March. So far it’s been one step forward, one step back, particularly as it relates to casting. Lionsgate has released 8 character posters to start building momentum. There’s a lot of photoshopping and skin doctoring happening here. And still, I don’t hate it. Full Story

It’s not, like, knee-slappingly funny but I wonder if a comedy always has to be knee-slappingly funny. There was a moment, for example, in The Hangover, which I did not consider to be a good movie, when I knee-slap laughed. I did not, however, knee-slap laugh often, if at all, during I Love You Man. Full Story

THR is reporting that Elizabeth Banks is in talks to play Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games. Must discuss this during the liveblog. I can see what they’re going for in the sense that Effie is the ultimate packager from the Capitol. In that spirit, Effie is totally Hollywood. Full Story
