Met Fishtails: Beyonce & Christina Ricci
Have a feeling we’ll be fighting about this one.
Christina Ricci is in Zac Posen. It’s exquisite. I mean, from a design perspective, it’s all you want at the Met Gala. Drama, imagination, quality, craftsmanship...
But I feel like it might be the right dress on the wrong person. I don’t know that she’s really rising with it. I’d love to have seen it for example on Charlize Theron. Someone who could have supported it. You know what I mean? How much more spectacular could it have been then? The bottom of it there looks like it’s about to pull Christina off that step.
As far as fishtails go, the safe opinion, and probably the one you’ll read most often today, is that Beyonce’s was tacky, ugly, and Tina Knowles. Well...
It was not Tina Knowles. And you can tell. It was Pucci. And I love it. On her. On no one else but her. I mean... you already know it’s Beyonce. And Beyonce will bring what Beyonce always brings. Her own steeze. And on this night, when McQueen was the inspiration, if you can manage to dress in a way that is authentically you, AND satisfy the spirit of the event and it’s departed patron, I don’t see how you can not call that a win?
Am all over the high collar. Love how the detail frames her back. It’s wrapping her beautifully too, resulting in a gorgeous silhouette. I’m saying this is for YOU. Or for ME. I’m saying this is Beyonce. Done right.
Please also note how she had to be helped up the stairs Mimi-styles. Comfort is obviously not invited to the Met Gala.
