Don’t mean to preach but we are collectively killing our planet. However, it’s not too late to turn it around. And Cameron Diaz and other celebrities are joining Al Gore to Save Our Selves (SOS) – The Campaign for a Climate in Crisis for a 24 hour concert on July 7, 2007 across 7 continents to raise awaress about our climate crisis and hopefully kickstart the movement to make a change. Performers committed so far to the project: Pharrell, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Snoop Dogg, Lenny Kravitz, Bon Jovi, Sheryl Crow, AFI, Melissa Etheridge, John Mayer, Damien Rice, Corinne Bailey Rae, Duran Duran, Snow Patrol, John Legend, Black Eyed Peas, Enrique Iglesias, Fall Out Boy, Kelly Clarkson, Korn, Faith Hill, and Tim McGraw…and that’s only today. Many more marquee acts are expected to join for the concert to be broadcast live on MSN. And another bonus, as so brilliantly pointed out by a reader named Christine, the event is scheduled on Eva Longoria’s wedding day, a date she “inadvertently” announced to the world earlier this week. Can you say total eclipse? Hee. As for Cam, nice to see her channeling the break up heartbreak in a healthier direction. After losing her sh-t publicly post-Globes over Pip and Biel (I suppose we are all allowed a moment of weakness…just one), Cam has pulled it back together beautifully – in Hawaii with Kelly Slater, at the gym grinding out her killer (if not a bit too hermy) body, and now for public service, doing her bit for the environment… Well played Cam, well played.
