Check out Tom Hardy at the premiere of Locke last night in Birmingham. He looks good. Yes. He looks good. But, I dunno, something’s …missing. It’s a glow. It’s something. Right? When Tom Hardy is hot, like super, super hot, there’s a warmth to him that radiates on his face. Full Story

Earlier this week, ScreenRant posted an article about the proposed Top Gun sequel and a possible plot: Drones. He’s the grizzled veteran in a world where pilots are dinosaurs. But wait! Can computers really fly planes and out-maneuver the bogeys? Of course not. Full Story

Though it was widely speculated that Maleficent would show up in Cannes, she was not on the official list that was released today. Is that a definite “NO”? Or are they just waiting for their own moment before dropping the Brange bomb on everyone else’s ass? In the absence of Brange, we get instead a showdown between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Full Story

Ryan Gosling directed his first film. It used to be called How To Catch A Monster. Now it’s called Lost River. It’s entered in Un Certain Regard. This is why he skipped the Cannes Film Festival last year (Only God Forgives). Doubtful that he’ll skip this year. Gosling has been working on it for months, keeping a very, very low profile. Full Story

Channing Tatum wants to be the dumbest superhero

I have, somewhat reluctantly, conceded to liking Channing Tatum. I didn’t want to, because I remain unconvinced that he isn’t some kind of real-life Encino Man, but he’s just so nice and uncomplicated and he’s been so smart with his career over the years that I have to give it to him. Full Story

A final trailer for X-Men: Days Of Future Past has just been released. The movie opens May 23. I love this preview. Let me get to it: So Wolverine is tasked with bringing the mutants together. The dude who has to break Magneto Michael Fassbender out of his prison? HOT. Nicholas Hoult’s Beast as the comic relief? Adorable. Full Story

Apparently there was a rumour happening out there about Charlize Theron and Sean Penn being engaged. So PEOPLE took it upon themselves to tell you that they’re not engaged but that… Friends of the couple "wouldn't be surprised" by a proposal, says the insider. Full Story

Map to the latest mindf-ck

David Cronenberg’s next film is called Maps To The Stars featuring Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Robert Pattinson, and Mia Wasikowska. There’s another reason why Lindsay Lohan will never: Mia Wasikowska, whose chill detachment and uncontrived aloofness (oh hi Rooney Mara) is perfect for Cronenberg’s latest mindf-ck. Full Story

I read the book and was engrossed like everyone else. In the end though, as previously mentioned, it wasn’t my favourite. The first half, yes. The second half kinda fell apart for me. But Gillian Flynn also wrote the screenplay. And there have been suggestions that she’s changed the ending. Full Story

Charlie Hunnam is currently working on Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak, a “gothic horror”, just outside Toronto. He celebrated his 34th birthday on set yesterday in costume. He was sweet and patient with fans who lingered on set to get autographs and take pictures. It was chill, no drama. Full Story

In the year 2004… Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp were supposed to be the sh-t. Ten years later, Brad Pitt has an Oscar, so does Matthew McConaughey, and Robert Downey Jr owns the box office. In other words, nobody knows anything, ever. Here’s RDJ in Malibu yesterday with his lunch box of vitamins, looking pretty fit as he gets ready to start working on Avengers 2, if he hasn’t already. Full Story

Johnny Depp talks about elephants instead

Johnny Depp’s interview with Ellen DeGeneres airs today. I’ve only seen the clip below but, amazingly, he doesn’t talk about his “chick ring” and he doesn’t talk about his “girl”. Instead, it’s a random series of questions about whether or not he plays with Barbies, sleeps in the nude, and paints elephants. Full Story

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are currently promoting The Amazing Spider-Man 2. They also seem to be promoting the Spice Girls. It started, of course, as you know, in Australia, when Emma broke down over Scary Spice Mel B. Every interview since has been about the Spice Girls and her devotion to them. Full Story

Kickstarter Garden State

Sarah Posted by Sarah

Zach Braff’s new movie Wish I Was Here, the one he partially funded on Kickstarter, has its first trailer. There’s hazy light, slow-motion walking, people standing on something and shouting at something else, The Shins. It looks very Zach Braffy. I suppose if you never outgrew the precocious twee of Garden State, there’s a good chance you’ll like Wish I Was Here. Full Story
