How the Mighty has stumbled

Mighty Oprah Winfrey has felt a lot less … mighty these days, hasn’t she? On Friday, Oprah abruptly fired CAA and her agent Kevin Huvane, who is incredibly powerful in his own right. His past and present roster includes Meryl Streep, Penelope Cruz, Jennifer Aniston, Sandra Bullock, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Keanu Reeves, Nicole Kidman, Clive Own, Sarah Jessica Parker, Uma Thurman, Renee Zellwegger, Julianne Moore and Ethan Hawke, and, as many of you know, his brother is publicist Stephen Huvane (Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Anne Hathaway, and more). Producer Porn: Behind The Scenes
Written by DuanaDo you mourn Oprah? Do you miss her? Do you wish she was still on the air? I liked the Oprah show well enough. I watched sometimes and didn’t watch for weeks or months at a time and got annoyed when I would try to see it every day(because people did, and talked about it, and I was (am?) a certain type of pop culture snob that requires you to consume every single thing that’s on TV, at least before there were shows like ‘Best Week Ever’ and so forth) because it clogged up the PVR and sometimes I just didn’t care. Johnny’s face has settled too
And thanks God. For much too long, especially with the Jolie in The Tourist, there was a layer of something sitting on his beautiful face, and it was heartbreaking, and frightening, to think that Johnny Depp might actually be losing his looks. Or f-cking with them. Full Story
Dear Gossips,
"A running theme in my life is to be used as vehicle for inspiring other people... I see myself as a messenger for a message that is greater than myself and my message is you can, you can, you can." (Source)
Who said it?
Is there any question? Of course. It was the Mighty Opes. The Mighty is currently promoting her network OWN and was at a Q&A session with media yesterday. There was a lot of storytelling. There were tears. Naturally. There was Opesie on the sell. And the product? Well, you read it yourself. She is selling Inspiration. Are you inspired?
There was a party last night in celebration of the launch of OWN. The Lord O held court among guests that included Mike Tyson. Read Full Intro
Confronting players, meangirls, and breakups
Written by Sasha Roughly four months ago I met someone, I'm 22, he's 28, and he was definitely more experienced than me. A little background first. This guy is extremely successful, owning his own business, and has been able to travel the world. Full Story
The Mighty is not a lesbian
There’s a new interview with Barbara Walters. There’s a double Barbara tonight – the Mighty and also the Most Fascinating People of the Year. While talking with Barbara, Opes addresses the lesbian rumours: "I'm not a lesbian. I'm not even kind of a lesbian." The Mighty Opesey goes on to say that it’s annoying to have people think that because it suggests that she’s dishonest: "The reason why it irritates me is because it means that somebody must think I'm lying. MET Midnight Blue: Oprah > Abbie
The Mighty looked great. She was the host, of course, and she chose Oscar de la Renta, and for her, he was perfect. A dress that apparently took 4 people over 250 hours to finish, and it really did fit her beautifully, so flattering, and the construction is magnificent and you can tell she felt magnificent and the styling, the hair, the makeup. Glee Oprah Vogue
I was at an event a while ago talking to an “Oh I Know” girl, you know that girl? She knows everything. Everything is an Oh I Know. This is the best place to buy cheese – Oh I Know. I love this song – Oh I Know. I can’t find an affordable townhouse – Oh I Know. Few things in life are as annoying as the Oh I Know girl. Full Story
Pissing away Oscar
There are actors like James Franco who doesn't need the street cred and isn't a money whore who is willing to work it on daytime television just because he's curious and available (more on this tomorrow) and then there's Mo'Nique who delivers an outstanding, breathtaking performance in the sure to be nominated Oprah-backed Precious and she's refusing to promote it. Oprah & Anna
The theme of the Costume Institute Gala this past year was Model as Muse. Last year in 2008 it was the Superhero. The theme for 2010? The Church of Oprah. Indeed, the Mighty Opes has been named co-chair next year to celebrate “American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity” alongside, as always, Anna Wintour. Full Story
The Mighty Opes is not amused
I am not an Oprah Winfrey fan. But I am definitely a fan of how Oprah responded to Chris Brown. Background: After Chris Brown beat his girlfriend, tried to force her out of his car, punched her repeatedly, and choked her until she almost lost consciousness Oprah dedicated a show to all “the Rihanna’s of the world” focusing on domestic violence, victims of abuse, and treatment for abusers and the abused.
