A random group of actresses
Steve Carell and Jim Carrey are teaming up in a comedy about rival magicians called Burt Wonderstone (doesn’t that sound like a Will Ferrell character?), and the short list for the female lead is the randomest group of actresses I’ve seen in a long time—Olivia Wilde, Michelle Monaghan, Judy Greer, Jessica Biel and Sarah Silverman. Crazy, Stupid, Stupid, Crazy
Written by Duana Now this is a story all about how you probably shouldn’t take me to the movies if the movie’s not a slam-dunk. Because I might be embarrassing. Sasha and I went to see Crazy, Stupid, Love (which I’m not sure needs that second comma AT ALL) with two friends of ours on opening night. Full Story
Keira in a comedy, Keira in love
I’ve been catching up on my Daily Shows since getting back from Cannes. Finally had the chance to watch Keira Knightley from May 9th. She was promoting Last Night. Jacek and I viewed this particular episode together. And half way through her interview, he decided that he was into her. That he liked her. Full Story
I want to stand there
Please look at where Emma Stone is positioned. This is where I would like to be positioned. Also please note the way he is looking at her. This is how I would like him to look at me. Sometimes certain images just kick you in the stomach. Or groin. In this case, both. These are newly released stills from the upcoming Crazy Stupid Love. Full Story
Ryan Gosling: Player-Coach
This is the first still from the upcoming Crazy, Stupid, Love starring Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling. I can’t wait to see him in a comedy. And with a killer wardrobe. It might be too much. I mean this photo, this photo is almost too much. So now we know a little about the plot. Steve’s wife (played by Julianne Moore) cheats on him. Full Story
The Night of Tina Fey
Last night in Washington, Tina Fey received the 13 Annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humour at The Kennedy Centre. As noted previously, she’s the 3rd woman to be honoured with the distinction, and the youngest of them all. Tina Fey. I have overheard conversations before between women who actually have said out loud that they’re not down with Tina Fey. Full Story
The King of Comedy
Written by Sarah The first time I saw Will Ferrell was at a comedy showcase in Los Angeles. Ten stand-ups, me included, were invited to perform for an industry crowd. TV execs, studio reps, and agents were the only invitees--the absolute worst crowd a comic could ever go in front of. Full Story
New Ferns!
Dinner for Schmucks opens this weekend going up against Zac Efron’s Charlie St Cloud. Charlie so far is not receiving very good reviews. Dinner is faring better, but by no means great. Mixed reception at best from critics and many saying they’ve done a disservice to its French inspiration. Full Story
The ESPYs coming into their own
Written by Sarah I took a stab at watching the ESPYs (ESPN’s annual sports award show—I think it stands for Everybody Sports People Yay) last night. I made it to the 2:25 point, but with no end in sight and a late DVR start, I had to give up. Full Story
Shaggy Paul Rudd
We were just talking about Paul Rudd during the live blog earlier. Sarah from Cinesnark dropped a reference from Party Down and now here he is, photographed on the set of My Idiot Brother, long-haired and bearded, working out a new look for a new character. I Love You Man was so much better than The Hangover, non? And Paul Rudd has built a solid career. Full Story
Date Night
Steven Soderbergh should have found a way to include Tina Fey and Steve Carell in Che. That way I would have gladly endured his four hour exercise in vanity. Because Fey and Carell really do have the most wonderful chemistry. And this is what makes Date Night a good time. Was it formulaic and absurd in parts? Of course. Full Story
Tina & Steve in Berlin
And now the Date Night press tour begins. Date Night opens April 9th. Duana and I talked about this while she was getting ready for work this morning, lacing up her Alexander Wangs while I tried not to yell at her because I’m jealous and petty. I saw these photos of Tina Fey and Steve Carell in Berlin at the photo call and I said “I don’t want Date Night to suck, the trailer looks good, please don’t let it suck” and she said “I’m worried. Full Story
Tina Fey: Bunny Hop & Date Night
Last was the annual Bunny Hop at FAO Schwartz in support of the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre. Tina Fey brought her daughter Alice. As you saw, Tina was just in LA for the Oscars co-presenting with RDJ. In addition to writing and producing and acting on 30 Rock, nearing taping for the season finale soon, she’ll also be promoting Date Night with Steve Carell, due out on April 9th. Full Story
The Office 100
The Office celebrated 100 episodes yesterday at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu. Most (all?) castmembers were in attendance including the adorable Jenna Fischer and of course everyone’s boyfriend John Krasinski who looks like he has tiny ankles and this is not attractive to me so let’s forget about them please, quickly, right away.
