Yesterday marked the 100th anniversary of the start of the Great War. There were commemorative events all around the world. Britain observed an hour of darkness in honour of those who lost their lives. Prince William, Catherine, and Prince Harry were in Belgium to attend a dedication. Today, the three were back in London, at the Tower of London, touring through the Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red installation that, by November 11, on Armistice Day, will represent the 888,246 fallen soldiers from the UK, Australia, and the Commonwealth, each life remembered with a poppy. Prince Harry is also at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with his brother and sister-in-law. You remember when his grandmother the Queen photobombed a few young students last week? Harry did the same thing to some people from Massey University. In case you missed it: here's our very own Gary Hermansson getting photo bombed by Prince Harry at #Glasgow2014 Full Story

The Cambridges have been in Glasgow the last few days for the Commonwealth Games. Yesterday they were at the swimming centre (she wore a sleeveless shirt under a blazer and pants) and today they were spectators at the athletics competition (in a blue dress). Something happens to Will and Kate when they’re at sporting events. Full Story
It’s Big G’s first birthday! His parents have urged the public to refrain from sending gifts, not only because that child has everything he could possible want, but also because that child only wants things he can crush. Like butterflies.
More images have been released from Big G’s visit to the butterfly exhibit, his parents gifting us with two more shots of the Bruiser Prince. As you can see, he’s fascinated by them, and at one point, reaches out to touch one on his father’s hand. That poor butterfly must have been like F-ck Me, how did I get chosen to hang out with the Gregor Clegane of the Windsor line?
And then there’s Blake Lively who launched Preserve late yesterday, reportedly two days ahead of schedule, clearly not intimidated by the royal milestone. Read Full Intro

Big Prince G turns 1 tomorrow and to commemorate the milestone, his parents have released a photo of him for the first time on his feet, all by himself. It was taken a couple of weeks ago at the National History Museum in London where they were visiting the Sensational Butterflies exhibition. Um. Full Story

Prince Hot Harry on a Horse was on his horse this weekend at a polo match. I do like a ginger in red. Uncle Ginger might be an uncle again…that is if you believe Jessica Hay. Hay claims to be an old friend of Katy Cambridge. When Katy was pregnant with Big G, it was Hay who told the media that she was expecting (November 2012) and that she’d be making an announcement the following month. Full Story
Prince Big G turns a year old on July 22. So Vanity Fair is celebrating him by putting him the cover. I don’t understand why none of them, especially him, the star of the show, are looking directly AT the camera. Perhaps it’s meant to convey how connected they all are as a family. But this kid, he’s given us some good face. Some really good crabby, I WANT I WANT I WANT face. And if you’re going to do this, if you’re going to make a baby your cover star, you might as well go all the way with it.
As for the article, it’s boring. He was colicky and hungry. He wasn’t a great sleeper. Something about a nanny. Something about renovations. Jesus, is this gossip now? That an infant cries a lot and needs to eat and can’t keep a sleep schedule?
Tell me about the time he uttered his first word: MINE. Read Full Intro

The Cambridges and Hot Harry were on hand to celebrate the first stage of the Tour de France this weekend. Kate wore green and I wonder if she was too hot. She laughed and touched her stomach and everyone else is wondering if she's expecting another baby. They're waiting for the spare. They can't wait for the spare. Full Story

Genie Bouchard! Canada’s golden girl won her quarterfinal match today at Wimbledon, advancing to the semifinals…which will be her THIRD grand slam semi this year. Wimbledon. They call it the “cathedral of tennis”. And Genie calls herself a princess, sometimes. Well, there was a princess in the cathedral today. Full Story

Princess Catherine visited with students and staff at M-PACT Plus Counselling today in London while her sister was broadcast on US morning television as part 2 of her interview with Matt Lauer aired on The Today Show. Anything good? No. Boring. How boring? Pippa Middleton managed to make even Big G sound boring. Full Story

The Order of the Garter service happened yesterday in London where both Prince Charles and Prince William were in attendance. Princess Catherine was there to support her father-in-law and husband. Camilla couldn’t come because she’s sick. She’s done this before, Katy Cambridge, but if it were me and Jacek, we would not be able to keep a straight face looking at all those feathers. Full Story

Big G was also at the polo match yesterday to watch his dad and his uncle ride around on horses. He didn’t seem all that interested. Dressed in seersucker pink, Bruiser, as usual, was a handful, determined to get out of his mother’s arms so that he could wrap his chubby fingers around a mallet and go find someone to club in the head. Trooping The Colour happened this weekend in London to celebrate Her Majesty’s birthday. Everyone has to show up for this one. Princess Catherine rode her with mother and brother-in-law to Buckingham Palace. Who wouldn’t want to ride with Hot Harry? When you ride with Hot Harry, you’re on the party bus. Full Story

Prince Philip is 93 years old today. Maclean’s rounded up some of his good and so-bad-they’re-good moments over the years. The Duke celebrated his birthday by going to work. At the Queen’s garden party. It’s quite a contrast in comparison to those Cambridges, William and Catherine, who’ve come under some criticism lately for being lazy. Full Story
