Thursday marks the 200th episode of Grey’s Anatomy. The show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, and cast members have been publicising the event. Ellen Pompeo was particularly candid in an interview with the New York Post, addressing the notorious departures of both Isaiah Washington and Katherine Heigl. And even though those two behaved like assholes, she manages not to be c-nty about what happened. No, not c-nty, but still, still there’s some judging. That’s a skill, you know?

“Hurt feelings, combined with instant success and huge paychecks started things spinning out of control. The crazier things got, as I watched all the tumult with Isaiah and then the Katie thing, I started to focus on the work. Maybe it is my Boston, blue-collar upbringing. I just tried to not pay attention to all the noise around me.

When Katie left, it was tough. You could understand why she wanted to go — when you’re offered $12 million a movie and you’re only 26. But Katie’s problem is that she should not have renewed her contract. She re-upped, took a big raise and then tried to get off the show. And then her movie career did not take off.”

So…basically what she’s saying without actually saying it is that Katie Heigl was greedy…and then she sucked at being a Movie Star. Exactly.

Speaking of being a Movie Star…

Here’s my favourite part of Ellen’s perspective – because so many of her peers don’t say this out loud enough, they simply don’t. And if more of them did, maybe we wouldn’t have so many over-reachers like Mrs Timberlake:

“Actors always think the grass is greener somewhere else. I didn’t want to do that. I have an amazing life. I have a house five minutes from the studio, I have a house in the Hamptons, a house in Malibu, a beautiful daughter whom I see every night, and it’s all because I didn’t leave ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’ ”

Right?!?

Duana noted during the Emmys that most of us don’t realise that Alyson Hannigan – rather quietly – has  two very lucrative series in syndication. Alyson Hannigan is better off than Jessica Alba. Ellen Pompeo is better off than Jessica Biel. Why do so many of them keep wanting to leave their lane?
