Gwyneth sells her body by Tracy Anderson
As you know, Gwyneth Paltrow’s body was produced by her trainer, friend, and business partner, Tracy Anderson. Anderson’s Method has been on sale for a while now, promising a body like G’s and now she’s come out with The Pregnancy Project so that a few weeks after you have your baby, you can get back into size 2 jeans.
The two cover the new issue of REDBOOK (Gwyneth Paltrow appears on REDBOOK now!?) and talk about “conquering bad boyfriends and cellulite”. In leather pants. Not sure the leather pants on the cover was a good idea. The bunching around the crotch is not a good idea.
What happens when the pants come off?
Well, it turns out, even with the body she has -- naturally tall and slender and long -- Gwyneth had body shame too and Tracy helped her get rid of the sh-tty parts:
Tracy: "Gwyneth had extra weight she couldn't drop from her pregnancy with Moses, and she needed to get in shape for her first action film, Iron Man."
Gwyneth: "With my daughter it had been easier, but this time, no matter what I did, I felt stuck. I couldn't shift the weight. But I met Tracy and she was this force from the second I met her. She pulled my pants off. I'll never forget it. She was like, 'Oh, my God, wow, I just am so surprised, because you look so good in clothes. I wasn't expecting this.'"
The point of their message is that G is “just like us”. She won an Oscar but when she used to look down, she didn’t like what was there either. I guess?
But does it read that way?
The way it reads here, it’s like Tracy pulled down G’s pants and was horrified by what she found. As “heavy” as Gwyneth Paltrow was though, could you ever imagine that what was underneath would be horrifying?
Considering that Gwyneth’s “before” shot is what most of us probably aspire to, how inspiring is it to hear that she thought it was gross and needed Tracy to come and make it better?
Are you inspired? Are you motivated? Is there something wrong with me that I’m not? Am I just a hater whose default position is to be a c-nt about everything? It just feels so incongruous when on the next page she’s going on about loving being 40 and having figured it all out.
