Lower! Justin Bieber went horseback riding yesterday. He had to take his shirt off. Then, when he dismounted, he had to make sure his pants weren’t hitched up too high. High meaning normal, like, hip level. Hip level is too high. The pants must be low enough to see pube. Full Story

You can’t imagine how much joy I’m taking in putting these two in the same article… Blake Lively has arrived in Cannes likely for her role as L’Oreal ambassador but her husband, Ryan Reynolds, has a film in the festival from director Atom Egoyan called The Captive that’s screening in competition. Justin Bieber took his ma to the Clippers game for Mother’s Day yesterday. Apparently they booed him when he moved to kiss her. It didn’t deter him. He gave one of his best performances in a long time. And by best, I mean that he was the least annoying that he’s been in a long time. Full Story

Please note, Rachel McAdams is not kissing Ryan Gosling. Please note, they have not gotten back together. I stress this because there was some bullsh-t that was reported a couple of months ago when people thought Gosling and Eva Mendes broke up. They did not. But you keep wishing for it. And it’s time to let that die. Full Story
It’s Jann Arden’s new album, released today. I’ve had the honour of working with Jann the last few weeks and knowing her the last few months on The Social. There never was a more generous, honest, crazy kind, and hilarious artist…friend…person.
Jann actually IS Everything. Just Everything.
She will never, ever make you feel sh-tty or regretful for supporting her. She will never let you down. Too often entertainers let us down. Jann’s one of the very, very few who you’ll stay in love with, like, forever. You will love her the most. And she’ll never make you change your mind. The new song is below.
Yours in gossip,
The June issue of FLARE will be available on NextIssue on May 3 and newsstands May 12. The cover? Ellen Page! And her abs. She’s expressing herself. And I’m expressing that I’m obsessed with her. This cover is THE BEST. “Loving ladies and living proud” There couldn’t be a better cover, right? No, there really couldn’t. Full Story

Taylor Kitsch was in Dallas last night to watch the Stars even up their playoff series against the Anaheim Ducks who were playing without Ryan Getzlaf. Kitsch is Canadian. He’s obviously a hockey fan. Why Dallas? My presumption: Friday Night Lights. Filmed in Austin. And he has a home there. Full Story
This is what I always say about Avril Lavigne: her fan base never grows with her. So she has to keep going back to mining from the 14 and under demo. That’s the only age range that will appreciate –if that’s the word – her new video for the song Hello Kitty, which actually includes this line: “Like a fat kid on a pack of Smarties. Full Story
#WeTheNorth Jacek’s right. If I want a team to win, I have to get as far away from them as possible. As expected, Drake was courtside at the Raptors game last night to watch the Northern Uprising even the series against the Brooklyn Nets. Now I’m curious to know if he’ll travel with the team to New York for the next game on Friday. Full Story

Game 2, the Toronto Raptors host the Brooklyn Nets tonight at the Air Canada Centre. Why am I in New York? Well, Jacek always says I jinx my teams. Maybe it’s a good thing because we lost on Saturday and that can’t happen again this evening. The Raptors official ambassador, Drake, was photographed in Toronto with friends on Sunday, likely to support his team. Full Story
The Cannes Film Festival announced its lineup today featuring some strong Canadian representation from David Cronenberg, Atom Egoyan, and the darling Xavier Dolan. Jesus. He’s only 25 years old. And it seems like every year Dolan has a film for the festival. So incredibly productive. Dolan’s latest, Mommy, is screening in competition this time, his first time. I miss his glasses. I wonder if he’ll ever bring them back.
More on Cannes later this morning. But after over a year of absence, Ryan Gosling will be there. And it’s always a good show when he shows up on the Croisette, even though he skipped last year when Only God Forgives was part of the festival.
FYI on blog scheduling: it’s a holiday in Canada tomorrow and I will not be blogging. Read Full Intro

Rihanna and Drake were both at the Clippers game last night. She went with her best friend Melissa Ford. He went with his boys. They sat apart. But at one point, Drake went over to see her. And they hugged. And I don’t know how to read this hug. Is there hesitation in her face? Is it because she knows there’s an audience? Is it because she’ll never love him as much as he loves her? I prefer the shot of them face to face – he’s saying something, and I’m photo assuming that it’s “woo talk”, and she’s smiling. Full Story

I love this thing where songs just get dropped, kind of at random. When one feels like it. Keeps the fans on their toes, right ? This one is called Days In The East and allegedly, it is about the romance between he and Rihanna, now that it’s back. It took me a minute to be convinced. Full Story
“Sara just told me not to forget to thank the JUNOs and CARAS. When we asked our parents if we could play music instead of go to University they were very mad at us. [we then signed a label with Neil Young some time in between…] We are absolutely in our 30s…I don’t think many people thought that two queer kids from Northeast Calgary would make it here.” – Tegan of Tegan and Sara last night at the JUNO Awards where they won Single of the Year (Closer), Group of the Year, and Pop Album of the Year.
Do you love them? I love them. How can you not love them?
Winnipeg evidently did not love Justin Bieber. He was booed. Winnipeg should not love Robin Thicke who bailed on the JUNOs citing “mandatory vocal rest” but… you know… YOU KNOW. Read Full Intro
