Handsome in Cannes

Stop what you’re doing right now. Because Colin Firth was in Cannes. Looking better than he has in a long time. Here he is being beautiful at a couple of Chopard events yesterday. Livia, his wife, is there too. Colin’s kept a relatively low profile for the last couple of years but he’s recently been confirmed to star in Woody Allen’s latest, with Emma Stone, and also in Matthew Vaughn’s The Secret Service, described as a comic book Bond. Here are Cameron Diaz and Colin Firth at the London premiere of Gambit tonight. Gambit will be released in the UK on November 21. I haven’t been able to find a US date yet which isn’t a good sign. And, as I wrote last month, if you’ve seen the trailer, that probably doesn’t surprise you. Full Story
Snape, Mark Darcy, and Mary

A naked Alan Rickman, a half naked Colin Firth, Cameron Diaz in her underwear and panties, the always amazing Stanley Tucci ... These are the main highlights from the first Gambit trailer that was just released yesterday (I love trailer season!) and, well, as much potential as it might have to be great, am I crazy in saying that it doesn’t seem all that funny and that Cameron Diaz isn’t the main problem? Yes, of course a line like “Have a look at these” is meant to be more amusing only because it’s Alan Rickman delivering it but. Full Story

Here are Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth shooting The Railway Man in Perth. I quite like her with brown hair. It softens all that sh-t she’s done to her face even though, from this distance, and in a blurry shot, that third upper lip is as bloated as ever. I really wish she’d stop muting her talent with her obsession to stay unwrinkled. Full Story
A Freeman of London

Look at him holding that plaque, SO cute. I am currently in studio and I don't have access to google what exactly that means (know-it-alls, I'm expecting you), but I think it's safe to assume he's being honoured. And so he should be. Some men were made for good tailoring, non?Ps - will be home from studio soon. Full Story
Worst Organic: Colin & Livia Firth

It’s so great that she’s all about green style but there has to be a vegan dress that’s an improvement on this one, non? I really do love Livia Firth. But this is an abomination; there’s no other way to say it. Happily though, her dress didn’t have to go up on stage with him to present Best Actress.“We were in Greece. Full Story
Best BAFTA 2012: Meryl Streep
Stuart Wilson/Gareth Cattermole/Dave Hogan/Getty
I think this Vivienne Westwood is glorious on her. Magestic. And it's great encouragement too. That a woman of Meryl's merit, maturity, and stature can wear the SH-T out of a designer garment that was originally sent down the runway on an 18 year old genetic freak. There's also something to be said about her reaction to winning. Full Story

Other than Jean Dujardin.Brad Pitt and George Clooney both came without dates. The Jolie stayed back with the children in Berlin and George, perhaps sensing that Stacy’s not helping against Jean Dujardin, decided to go it alone. He’s better alone. When he’s alone, he can be with his boys. He can hug Colin Firth and hold his hand. Full Story
GG Best Tux: Colin Firth

Tux School - this is how you wear one. He actually looks a lot better here than he did by the time award season was over last year. No stress, no pressure, makes a big difference. Full Story

Colin Firth and Gary Oldman were both at the premiere of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy last night in LA, a film they say should contend at the awards. Colin is the reigning Best Actor. Sarah declared last week (click here for a refresher) that Gary is her prediction to walk away with it this year. Full Story
Colin Firth
Arguments for: -Let’s not waste time on the physical obvious. You’ve seen him in a tuxedo?-Really it should have been last year but now he’s the reigning Best Actor and this year, during award season, he’s in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, and even though Gary Oldman’s getting most of the play for the film, it’s yet another prestige project Firth is involved with. Colin & Cumberbatch
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy looks to have lived up to expectation in Venice. Reviews are very, very good. It’s now well positioned for an award season run. And what a cast. Several of them were at the festival for the photo call and the gala including Colin Firth, always dashing, with wife Livia, and Benedict Cumberbatch whose fans have been more and more vociferous lately about his inclusion on the site. Does Bridget die?
If she dies at the end, I may like it more than if she doesn’t because at least that would be surprising and not just another two hours of the same sh-t made for the third time because ... I don’t actually know what the reason is, do you? Entertainment Weekly Full Story
