Every love is forever but we’re never getting back together

Taylor Swift has a new album called RED coming out in October. And there’s already a new song -- We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.

Once again, then, a breakup song. Because as she told her fans yesterday:

"All the different emotions that are written about on this album are all pretty much about the kind of tumultuous, crazy, insane, intense, semi-toxic relationships that I’ve experienced in the last two years."

Taylor Swift is 15 years younger than me. And has had so many more feelings. Maybe more than all of us.

Anyway, as is the case whenever Swifty sings a song about heartbreak, everyone is now wondering who it might be about. She’s learned how to be more subtle this time. For the sake of Good Gossip, and based on nothing else, I’ll say Jake Gyllenhaal who pulled a cut and run on her because he couldn’t handle the attention their relationship was getting...after dating Reese Witherspoon? It was Jakey’s weakest hour. And now, maybe, he gets to be immortalised by Taylor Swift. This is the line I’m resting my entire case on:

And you will hide away and find your piece of mind with some indie record that's much cooler than mine

That’s what he does, Jakey, doesn’t he? Hang out with indie artists?

But Taylor has a new boyfriend now. A new forever love that one day she’ll never ever get back together with. Conor Kennedy is 18 and already she’s his neighbour because she bought the house next door to his family compound. And he’s going back to boarding school in a few weeks. But not before they make an eternal declaration, the kind all kids in love for the first (but really 8th) time make to each other before classes begin...

I can almost smell the lockers now, can you?

At 22, it still works...I guess. The youth in her work. On her next album though? We might need a little more maturity. Otherwise, it’s just another Avril Lavigne. The fact that she’s romantic about a high school boy however is not a good sign.
