Sean Penn spoke to Charlie Rose last night for an interview that will air more extensively on 60 Minutes and on Charlie’s show on PBS. A preview of the discussion was featured today on CBS This Morning. This, of course, is about El Chapo and the article Sean wrote for Rolling Stone about their meeting – click here Full Story

It has been so satisfying to watch Leonardo DiCaprio go for this Oscar. Because Leo wasn’t supposed to be the one with so much Try. Leo wasn’t supposed to be the one who was desperate for it. Leo was the one who just worked for the work, you know? Art for art’s sake. And when he eventually did win his Oscar, it would just…happen. Full Story

Our Golden Globes coverage delayed this story… But how much did you love that Ricky Gervais opened on a Sean Penn joke on Sunday night? No matter how much you loved it, Sean Penn loved it the most. He f-cking LOVES that he was the one who went into the Mexican jungle and interviewed El Chapo, the drug lord. Full Story

When Leonardo DiCaprio won his Golden Globe for Best Actor for The Revenant, he said that it’s time we take back the land for the First Nations, or something. I didn’t quite follow his point and also, the minute he invoked indigenous issues, I heard the roar of an oncoming train. Why? Because I knew what that meant. Full Story

Yes, it has happened. Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence have become the popular girls.  You know what I mean, of course. They are each the type who would be adamant about how not-cool they were growing up, but this now translates into being not-cool together, and everyone else really liking that and watching them, and boom – all of a sudden they are the cool girls in the room. Full Story

Let’s talk about what everyone wants to talk about. That moment. Lady Gaga’s name has just been called. She walks past Leonardo DiCaprio, pushes past all his struggling and his surviving, and this: The internet exploded. That’s the most popular boy in school, the current heavyweight champion of award season, who never has to wear the right thing, who can show up wherever he wants, snickering at the girl walking past him at the party. Full Story

This morning Parade posted their new interview with Leonardo DiCaprio. The Revenant (Struggler) opens in wide release today. Leo talks a lot about his work as an environmental activist and humanitarian and how he feels a moral obligation to do more with his platform, because otherwise greed will win: Parade: You’re famous and rich, you can have all the women you want, do whatever you like, and instead you decide you’re going to concern yourself about the fires killing orangutans in Indonesia. Full Story

I was originally intending to lump this post in with the previous one on FKA twigs and Robert Pattinson and call it a Vampire Love Update. But then I decided that was lame. Is it still lame to tell you what I decided not to do because it was lame? Alexa Chung and Alexander Skarsgard rang in 2016 together in Miami. Full Story

I had to look up just now how long FKA twigs and Robert Pattinson have been together. It was confirmed in September 2014. That surprised me. Did it feel like it had been that long for you? Here they are in London, just before New Year’s Eve, leaving dinner. So at least 18 months then. And beginning 2016 together. Full Story

Now this is exactly how I want to start the year: Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth back on? They were seen together this weekend in Australia, at the Falls Music Festival. My Preferred Hemsworth (on looks, obviously, because GODDAMN he is hot) was there with his two brothers, Chris and Luke, and a group of friends. Full Story

Anomalisa This is Charlie Kaufman’s sophomore directorial effort, seven years in the making and with an assist by Duke Johnson, who directed Community’s animated episodes. Anomalisa is a flat-out astounding film, where stop-motion puppets peel their faces off but also enact realistic and intimate love scenes, and it swings from one of the single funniest lines of dialogue this year to one of the most painful break-ups. Full Story
