The Huntsman: Winter’s War opened over the weekend to a resounding, “No thanks,” from audiences with an estimated $20 million opening. For comparison, Snow White and the Huntsman opened in 2012 with $56 million. Given its reported budget of $115 million (haha, yeah RIGHT) and an aggressive ad campaign, Universal is looking at a loss on this one. Full Story

I don’t think anyone actually expected The Huntsman: Winter’s War to be good, and it isn’t, so I’m not going to demand anyone spend money on this movie. But if you’re the curious type and/or you remember the charmingly bad sword-and-sorcery movies of yesterday, like Willow and Legend—or the better but still f*cking weird entries into the genre, like The Last Unicorn—then The Huntsman: Winter’s War offers a sort of nostalgia-infused trip back to a time when Hollywood liked making movies with magic and beasties, and was also doing copious amounts of blow in the bathroom. Full Story

Money Monster is coming out next month. It’ll be screened at the Cannes Film Festival. George Clooney is now starting to promote it with his 9th Esquire cover. And at the beginning of this interview, he’s actually credited with the magazine’s resurgence for the first time he was featured, in 1999. Full Story
