Aziz Ansari and Jesse Eisenberg attended the LA premiere of 30 Minutes or Less last night. It opens on Friday. I’ve attached the second red band trailer below. I won’t lie. I really, really want to see this movie and laugh my sh-t out. A lot. I really, really wish I hadn’t seen the part in the trailer below when Aziz slaps Jesse in the ear. Full Story

When what makes sense doesn’t actually work

In a certain celebrity matchmaking universe, Ellen Page + Jesse Eisenberg would constitute a duh, oh yeah, totally slamdunk. Look at those quirky hipsters with their weird ticks, and the way they both speedtalk, and he hasn’t watched tv or a movie since 1988 and neither has she because they spend all their time collecting chairs with only 3 legs and reading Kant! They belong together! Except, as is often the case when two people totally belong together on paper, when you put them together it becomes kinda . Full Story

Andrew Garfield and Jesse Eisenberg were photographed together in New York this weekend doing a little shopping. As you know, the two became close during The Social Network and are obviously still tight. Remember when we played Video Assumption on them meangirling Justin Timberlake? Click here  Full Story

Jesse reads but doesn’t pose

A lot of you developed a boner for Jesse Eisenberg this year after The Social Network and awards season and were sad and worried to see that come to an end because, Jesse being Jesse, he would recede from the public eye. Jesse makes it a point not to draw attention to himself (or use the internet or watch tv or engage in pop culture, eyeroll, eyeroll, eyeroll), Jesse is rarely papped, Jesse lives in New York and collects old maps and writes musicals. Full Story

Written by Duana Late last night, long after it was too late to do anything about it, (and really, what was I going to do? Call up Annie H on her cellphone, because of how tight we are? ) I realized there was an untapped connection at the Academy Awards last night. Full Story

Written by Sarah Without all-American Armie Hammer and the style of Justin Timberlake to fall back on, Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield had to bring it to the BAFTAs to represent the cast of The Social Network. They didn’t disappoint. Full Story

Meangirling JT?

I mentioned this during the liveblog today and then totally forgot about it until a few emails started coming in – it’s a video that Thien sent me yesterday, an interview with Justin Timberlake, Jesse Eisenberg, and Andrew Garfield during which Jesse and Andrew appear to go off into their own conversation leaving Justin to look away aimlessly, scratching the back of his head. Full Story

By now I’m sure you’ve seen it – the annual Hollywood Issue, this year featuring Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway, and the ubiquitous James Franco on the cover, with Jennifer Lawrence, Anthony Mackie, Olivia Wilde, Jesse Eisenberg, Mila Kunis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Andrew Garfield, Rashida Jones, Garrett Hedlund, and Noomi Rapace on the inside flap…as Robert Duvall supervises from the back. Full Story

SAG Jinx: Justin Timberlake

Click here for a refresher on what I wrote last week. When JT doesn’t show up, The Social Network cleans up. When he does show up, like at the Producers Guild, TSN gets no love. Justin attended the SAGs last night. Guess what happened? The Social Network was trumped by The King’s Speech. Full Story

A lot of requests coming in lately for more Jesse Eisenberg. Here he is shooting 30 Minutes Or Less in LA yesterday. It’s a comedy. He apparently plays a pizza delivery guy who gets forced by two dumbass criminals to rob a bank within half an hour. Danny McBride is one of the dumbass criminals. Full Story

TSN Unstoppable?

As announced several weeks ago, NBR named The Social Network the Best Film of 2010. The cast was at the gala last night to celebrate the honour, along with Jesse Eisenberg who was named Best Actor and David Fincher who was named Best Director. Oh yeah and Best Adapted Screenplay for Aaron Sorkin. Stephen Colbert had the best line on Sorkin actually when, in introducing the picture Full Story

TSN on DVD

What a smart move. It is the leader going into awards season. It will likely fight it out at the Oscars with The King’s Speech. It will probably win. But first, to sustain its momentum, the DVD will be released on January 11th. That’ll give The Social Network some extra kick. Clever, non? In service of the launch, and a very strategic campaign, all of the film’s major players were in Beverly Hills last night at the event including Jesse Eisenberg, expected to be nominated for Best Actor, Aaron Sorkin, a sure bet for an adapted screenplay nod, David Fincher, who will definitely make the Academy’s list of directors, Andrew Garfield, Armie Hammer, and, of course, Justin Timberlake. Full Story

One minute acting

Lainey Posted by Lainey

A lot of you have been sending me this today: the New York Times video featuring (mostly) world class actors “acting” for a minute. Let’s call this what it is, ok? It’s a little pretentious and contrived. Come on now… The black and white, the music, the self involvement disguised as art – this kind of sh-t alienates people. Full Story

This is your weekend assignment. Because who has the time during the week to spend an hour on this, even though it’s 60 minutes of pure amazingness? The Hollywood Reporter Actors’ Roundtable is embedded below. Enjoy it, maybe over breakfast on Sunday, really savour the experience. I broke it up into two parts on Wednesday night during my playlist making, loved it, but wonder if I would have even more if I hadn’t paused. Full Story
