There are farewells… and then there are Celine Dion farewells. Celine in Paris has become the best part of our dark days, non?
On Saturday Celine was seen in Paris filming what’s presumably a new video in jeans and a long jacket. She can emote, even when she’s standing on a corner holding on to a street post. Then, when it was time to leave her hotel, she put on a spectacular high collar outfit with deep rust velvet boots and gave Parisians a final fashion show. They showed up for her with balloons and signs. And she thanked them for it the only way she knows how.
She held their babies. And then she threw down her expressions. There’s the open mouth shocked by gratitude expression. There’s the double hands covering her face, overcome by emotion. There’s the one hand wave of sadness, as though she’s looking back and forwards at the same time. And, of course, two arms in the air, jubilant and exhilarated.
This has been one of the highlights of the year, for all of us, hasn’t it?
That time Celine went to Paris and brought all the joy.
